Emailing SMS at tmomail.net to recipient abroad

This might qualify as a general section question, but since I own a Tmobile 8700g, I thought I would first ask here : has anyone tried sending an SMS via email to a @tmomail.net while the recipient is outside the country ? Does this work alright ? What format of number should be used in this case - [email protected] ?

I have used a standard @tmomail.net within US, but am not aware whether the same will work when the receiver's phone is outside the country, and if so, whether any change is required to the number being called.

You would enter that person's regular number, (and area code if different than your own.)
and then the rest of the email address.

The number doesn't change just because a person leaves the country, only phones that are from another country require a country code.

Anyway, this isn't even necessary since we're talking about email addresses which are treated as totally separate from SMS messages, just enter the email address and you'll be fine.

You will also be charged for international text messaging rates according to what the carrier has posted on their website.

Xlimbs is right you would stil get charge for this as an sms because even mobile [email protected] is not an email per say, more like a long sms that allows you to receive messages from e-mail address. They will come out of your bucket of minutes and the moment that you go over your minutes is .35 cents peer message after that.

Thanks for your responses! I don't mind the charge; I just wanted to ensure it does work. The recipient will be me; my colleagues who intend to reach me in this manner aren't familiar enough with the SMS setup on their phones, or find the numerical keypad unwieldly. So I wanted to provide them an alternative. I wanted to check whether there were any caveats related to using this system and any international roaming concerns.

If you use your blackberry email address to email [email protected] you won't get charged .35 cents. If you activate International data you pay the monthly extra fee but it should be unlimited...correct me if I am wrong. There has been debates on this...!

From the T-Mo site the way I understand the charges are the following:

>> Recieving SMS while roaming internationally the SMS will come out of your bucket of your SMS message plan, or $0.10 if you don't have a SMS plan.

>> If you send a SMS while traveling internationally the charge is $0.35.

Thanks Jace - that was very helpful. I figured it was $0.35 for sending and receiving, but it appears I will only pay to send messages, since I have a sufficient SMS bundle.
