Email Device

Hi everyone,

I'm currently researching replacements for my ageing Blackberry 7290.

I need a device that supports push email or something similar which has instant emails without having to manually download. I'm looking for something with a qwerty keyboard like my existing Blackberry. I know there is the 8700 from RIM but I want to know what other alternatives are and which are the best.

I have and love the 8700c but there are also other phones with similar capabilities like the Nokia 9300. It has Blackberry Connect and Push Email. The 9300i also has Wifi but you have to buy that elsewhere then from cingular.

There is also the 6515. I know it doesnt come with Push email but Dataviz makes a 3rd party application for that. Basically that solution applys to all Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition handhelds. But the ones with Windows Mobile 5.0 built in all come with Push emial. Its become basically a nessesity. You can find a proof article here:

There is also the NEW Blackberry 7130c that I might sell my 8700c for. The only thing is doesnt have is the Full Qwery keypad it has the cingular exclusive Suretype Qwerty Keypad.

Another choice along the Windows Mobile is the HTC/Cingular 8125 which is a REALLY nice device, its very powerful.

Basically to wrap it up

Windows Mobile - Go with the 8125 its the best overall device
Stay with Blackberry - 7130c
All in one - Nokia 9300

I would say the Nokia 9300 would be best for you though overall because 1) it has the Qwerty Keyboard and 2) because it has Push Email and Blackberry connect alongside Xpress Email. It also has EDGE, Bluetooth, Full HTML Browser, and so much more. You would have to look up all the specs. Cingular hails it as being a Near Laptop experience.

I am sure you wouldnt regret buying the 9300.

Any other questions - let me know!

Thanks for your reply Tjash,

To be honest, I've had the 9300 before push email and WiFi was introduced to it and I can't say that I really got on with it. I found it hard to type with unlike my current BB 7290. As for the 8125 I don't think its available in the UK as of yet.

At the moment I think I may stick with the 8700 when I come to upgrade unless the Nokia N61 proves to be any good.

My recommendation is the HTC Wizard (Tmobile MDA or Cingular 8125) because I use it for my push email needs. There are a few others with qwerty though: http://fonegrabber.com/tag/qwerty
