Elliott Smith "Either/Or"

That's really not that much considering how many songs are on XO and how many different instruments are on it. Hardly a full backing band, like I said guest musicians.

XO is a good album but not a good introduction to Elliott's music. Songs like Baby Britan are good but i perfer when it's just Elliott playing guitar and maybe some drums. If your new to Elliott Smith's music i get Either/Or or his selftitled album

The way Figure 8 sounRAB is wonderful, but nothing in that album really stanRAB out to me.
honestly its one of my least favorite ES cd's.

No, is it about the sex life of a convict?

Of course I have, nothing in his discography beats waltz #2 for me.
I have a lot of memories connected with it, so that may be why I
hold it so highly. Also, between the bars isn't that melancholy,
I'd class it as one of his cheery songs along with say yes and true love;
but again I'm being subjective and everyone will interpret his songs
disparately. That's what makes music, well music.

Again, see above.

He didn't have anything to do with From a Basement on the Hill other than the songs themselves, some of which he didn't even finish mixing. Figure 8 was technically his last release, Basement and New Moon are just compilations.

fair enough, different strokes. But Waltz #1 is definitely MY favourite Elliott Smith song...it just WORKS. Never fails to give me goosebumps, and it's such a sad and melancholy song.

I always found Figure 8 way better than XO

I just didn't think XO contained any big stand out tracks or anything
And I never liked it as much as any of his other ones

Although I think his self-titled was one of his best,
and most people don't agree with that
