Elizabeth: The Golden Age

I was fortunate to see a preview of Elizabeth on Thursday and I must say, despite not being a lover of history, that I found it a joy to watch. Geoffrey Rush was superb, as was Clive Owen. The scenery was breathtaking (and I can say that cos I live amongst some of it :) )
Just wondering if anyone else had seen it yet any opinions on it? Was it too historically inaccurate to be plausible?

I saw it on Monday & loved it. Not as much as the original though, the plot is not as coherent as the first film. The costumes were fantastic, as was the music.

It's a shame there wasn't more shown of the Spanish Armada (would had added too much to the budget though), some ships survived & ended up going right around the British Isles only to get sunk by a storm in the Irish Sea.

I hope they get to make the planned third film.

When I think of Elizabeth I, I think of Cate Blanchett now, & not Miranda RicharRABon in Blackadder II. Finally! ;)

the Tudor period is one of my favourites - I thoroughly enjoyed Elizabeth which was fantastic and from the trailers i've seen it looks equaly top quality.

Went to see this today.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really good story and great acting.

I did not see the original (didn't even know there was one), so this is based on seeing this fresh, not knowing anything about the story, except for the trailers I had seen.

I'm going to see this for the spectacle, because it's obviously not historically accurate. But from what I've seen in previews Cate Blanchard does a good regal job.
But THE Queen Elizabeth I for me will always be Glenda Jackson in the 6 part BBCTV series from the '70s--and I think that was the most historically accurate portrayal too. They must have spent about

I was talking to some of the extras when they were filming in Cambridge, and they were off to Mexico next... any ideas which part of the film was made there?!

Finally watched both Elizabeth films... the first at the weekend and The Golden Age this evening. Thoroughly enjoyed both of them despite various points of history being changed!
