Hey Anu :wave: Nice to see you back here!
I can actually enjoy Katherine as a good woman thrown into a tragic situation who became a villain. But 1) they kind of blew their wad early with her, imo, and 2) they're not only crazy uneven with the way they write her (now suddenly she did love Damon :rolleyes), but what I thought was backstory to explain how Katherine got from what she was to what she is is starting to look more like a sob story to make me think that maybe she's just a victim of circumstance and that with a little love she could be a good person. I don't oppose Katherine trying to survive, but she's done a hell of a lot of messed up things just to get something she wants, like snapping that girl's spine just to get Stefan's attention.
I don't mind shades of grey. Like you said, Veronika, those are often the most interesting characters. But Elena is already a complex character who has displayed less savory traits and done some - best case scenario - questionable things. I like that about her. I also like that she tries to be a good person; we actually see her working at it, realizing she's acting a certain way and trying to do better, that sort of thing. To me, that makes her more interesting than characters that are evil for the hell of it, or characters that can't help acting like psychos because the world isn't perfect :shrug:

Nina has the best taste in formal wear, doesnt she? Let's hope that works in our favor. I've seen gifs of Elena walking down the stairs in her Miss Mystic Falls dress and Elijah looking up at her (either from 2x08 "What game are you playing with me?" or from when he was waiting for her at the fireplace). Amazing gif, where did you go?

I'm not going to gush about the acting here because that'll take forever, I'm just talking about the physical aspect of what he's doing. It's really incredible how much internal strength he has, especially when he shows us what he can do after Elijah's post-"oh you're not Katherine"-pass out. It's almost impossible to go from lying down to jerking onto one's side and balancing on one arm while staying stiff as a board and not using any other lirabs to help (Not kidding. Try it when no one's looking). And the way he slowly extenRAB his arm at a 90* angle, then benRAB his elbow again at a 90*, then hitting the ground with his fist....it's believable that he's becoming animate after being turned to stone.
Again, I bring up the whole shirtless/non-shirtless debate: You can either walk around shirtless going all "look at me look at me look at what I got from doing chin ups in my room for hours (*cough* Stefan)" or you could do the Elijah thing and SHOW us what you can do. No to Elijah joining the ranks of man-sluts on TVD. Classy Elijah for the win!
I dont know why anyone hasnt mentioned this before, but Elena has already hugged Elijah in this scene! (Sort of. I'm going to count that) Too bad Elijah was the one to break it off, but hey, he wasn't feeling too well so we can let this one go. But I love how her instinctive compassion comes out when she sees someone in agony. Cant breathe? Here, have a hug. Does that make it better?
Exactly! Elijah, being the gentleman, initiates contact, Elena tentatively accepts, the two of them circle each other, one steps back, the other steps forward, move away from each other, come closer together....not just in conversations but in their positioning in the scenes as well.

Has anyone read Taken by Pied Flycatcher? It's an EE fic on ff.net. She wrote a really good EE fic before so I was interested in reading this one but she says it's a multiship and I have to admit I'm not terribly fond of those.
