Eligible for financial aid also?

I received a Federal Pell Grant for this year, but the thing I am wondering is if I will receive that in addition to a financial aid award? I know that they are basically the same thing, but the grant is given to me a month after actual school starts, and therefor I will not have any money for books (which will end up costing me $500+).

Does anyone know I could be eligible to receive more than the grant, or is that it? I would really appreciate some answers, as the financial aid office here isn't giving me at the moment and I'm sort of in a waiting period.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
And I already applied for a student loan in August.

The Pell grant is your financial aid award. The grant is given to the school to help pay for your tuition and fees and such and any money you have extra is given to you, usually a few weeks after school starts. You need to ask the financial aid office or your campus bookstore if they will allow you to charge your books against your financial aid account. Some schools are more than willing to do this... some are not. Some people don't get enough financial aid in just a Pell grant TO charge their books. You need to find out how much your grant is (per semester) and then look at your tuition and fees bill is and see if you have any extra. If you don't then you can opt to take out a student loan if you want.
