I have an eleveated ANA > 1280 of a centromere pattern for 3 years and with a history of raynauds for 33 years. I have seen a rheumatologist and had all kinds of lab work done. All the tests that are more specific for lupus and scleroderma are all negative. I also have an elevation in thyrod antibodies but my TSH T4 T3 are all fine. Clinicallly I am asymptomatic except for raynauds. Could my elevated ANA be due to raynauds alone and not be associated with lupus, crest or sclelroderma? Or do you think I am more likely to get some type of connective tissue disease? What is the percentage of people walking around with and Elevated ANA of centromere patttern with raynauds only and never develop any
thing else?

Primary Raynaud's is generally not associated with a positive ANA. A positive ANA with a centromere pattern is specific for limited scleroderma (CREST). A whole clinical picture by a rheumatologist would be necessary for a diagnosis. You may never have a connective tissue disease develop, but with the Raynaud's you may want to get checked out.

My husband has had Raynaud's for as long as you, and has never had a positive ANA or autoantibodies but has had other symptoms of CREST.
