Ya, I noticed the recycled lifts as well. It makes sense because they are already learning a whole bunch of new things with the switch from junior to senior, so it's good that they have a few parts of the program that they're comfortable with already. Their spins are beautiful, but you can tell they need to practice them a little more before they are ready for competition - plenty of time left for that :)

Nikita's tweet said they are performing their Short Dance today. It would be awesome if we could get a video of that program as well!

Nikita tweeted 10 hrs ago:

Oh,god! We realy need a day off!!!

Ya, their Schindlers List FD last year was super fast, and I'm sure with time their new programs will reach that speed.

Their SP:

They nailed their twizzles, but Nikita falls at one point, they have major trouble with their lifts and the Golden Waltz bit was a little slow. It was kind of hard to watch :broken_heart:

I don't think the programs they have this year are right for them. Elena has such a great talent of expression that isn't used to it's greatest effect like it was in Schindler's List. I think the fact that this is their first year skating the Golden Waltz contributes to them having a hard time skating their SD, because most of their lifts are after the Golden Waltz sequence, which tires them out from what I can tell.

Hopefully their FD today will be better :(

Same here. I feel as if there programs are a bit hit-and-miss this season. For some reason I'm not feeling it.
With CoR, hopefully they will come out of their shells and break loose (except more controlled in Nikita's case) and do well. This is their first season in seniors after all and they have done well so far. :)

What the heck did I read then? Hmmm well some people don't know how to spell it! :goof:

Yeah their twizzles are awesome  I think their spins are still a bit iffy, but otherwise I loved it. Although I do see some recycled lifts...though I guess that makes sense since it's a transition from junior to senior...

Love the gifs! They're both awesome!

Ahaha, nice! They really are addicting to watch  They just skate so beautifully...I guess we'll see how these two will be skating in 4 years  Although I really don't think anyone can skate like TS...

Agreed. You're totally right. The programs don't seem extremely challenging for them. Thinking back on TS's first senior year, compared to their previous year as juniors, their footwork was much more intricate and all their lifts and holRAB were gorgeous...

That's horrible news! Nothing too bad I hope.:(

I know what you mean, Lizy. I feel like it might have played to their strengths more if they picked an FD with a story, or maybe played more off their chemistry, but you're right - they definitely killed it (especially the twizzles).

Yeah, college apps are killing me :(

Idk, I'm a bit disappointed with their programs and performances this season

Where is everyone? :(
School's busy I'm guessing, I know it is for me, but we should liven up this thread a little since the season has started! Cup of Russia is on this weekend and Elena and Nikita performed their SD today, finishing 6th so far. I haven't seen the program because they didn't televise the SD in Canada, but it will be on youtube eventually I hope. The FD is being televised Saturday at 3 on CBC if anyone's in Canada. Here's a fanvid anticipating Cup of Russia:

For me, the Schindler's list program felt more like a tragic program (grief and desperation were the dominant emotions I felt being shown), but now I recall that when they were explaining it in an article they said it was about two lovers...
I'm just hoping that one of these days they'll attempt a program that's got the same kind of emotions as Mahler (of course, not a duplicate of Mahler, because that's physically and emotionally impossible for anyone but T/S ).

Elena Ilinykh & Nikita Katsalapov #2 ~ Because "how can you not root for a guy named Nikita?"

Exactly  I was watching some Marlie performances today and their speed is insane...

I'm excited to see how fast these two can get their routines to be....

Oh, haha, well the Russian alphabet is completely different, so it actually looks like this in Russian: Сочи...but um, it sounRAB similar to how you say it in English though...you just don't emphasize the o as much as you do in English...but either way, Russians spell it Sochi in English :)
