Electrical Problems w/ 2003 Chevy Tracker?

Yesterday the "Battery" and "Air Bag" lights stayed on and flickered (not a steady blink) for a minute after I started the car. I drove 10 minutes to work, but the lights were off after a few minutes. 8 hours later the car started up with no problems. I drove 10 minutes to the drug store. When I tried to start it up...nothing. Had a click, just a little engine noise, but nothing else. Tried again...just the click (most likely the solenoid trying to work.) I got a jump start, no problems. Car started right up. I let the car run for a good 10 minutes and then drove 5 minutes home. Now the "Check Engine Light" was on (solid) and the "Air Bag" light was on too (also solid) shut the car off and then tried to start it again. Again...nothing.

I've eliminated it being the starter or solenoid. I think it's the battery, but I don't want to go waste money on a new battery only to have it end up being the alternator.

I'm going to borrow my dad's battery tester and he has a battery charger as well. I realize it could be a short or some other problem as well, but is there anyway to tell it's not the alternator?

Thanks!

Drive your car to a parts store like autozone and leave it running and they will come out and check your battery and alternator for free. then you can get the correct parts for the repair.
