I'm a big guy living on top of a hill the steepest and shortest route is 400yds at 6% gradient, I would like to cycle to lose some bulk but getting up that hill is get off and walk time for me, so i'm looking at electric bikes. Bit confused as to why the standard motors all appear to be around 250w when you can get kits at much higher wattage that appear to give you more oomph, why are'nt the manufacturers putting these in as standard, similarly with the battery voltages, A dutch guy said the cost of batteries means once they're dud you might as well buy a new bike, are they that expensive?
