Electical problems on a 96 Chevy conversion van.?

I just picked a nice used GMC High top conversion van with the TV DVD and every option imaginable. I have a bad power door lock switch. Could this drain the battery if left engaged. I had the alternator checked its good, starter is good, good battery. I am a fair shade tree mechanic but I am at a loss when it comes to the electrical gadgets in the inside.
I checked it with a volt meter and it is pulling amps but I tought they was supposed to quit drawing after it was tripped?
 
IF the switch stays engaged it would be a drain. I haven't seen one stay engaged though, but, anything is possible.
