effective exercise for getting highly toned legs/thighs without affecting the butt?

Hi.

I am currently working out my thighs by doing lunges and other exercises shown on internet.
However, these have not been very effective in gaining a well toned thigh/leg.Moreover, I am loosing weight in my butt area;making them look small.

Can anyone please suggest an exercise which is only effective on thighs/leg and not on the butt.I have tried lot of exercises but nothing is working out for me.I want my hip area to be full and not flat,its irritating me.I need help please.Would appreciate if anyone would suggest me on a right exercise.thank you

p.s: i can't go to the gym due to my heavy workload so need some exercise that I could try at home.
