I am currently a student enrolled in a community college, working towards attaining my Associate Degree.
I am loosing my hearing, and will eventually be deaf. I also love medicine, and someday want to be a doctor. I figure that I could take my "disability" and use to to help people who are deaf in getting medical attention, since there are not a lot of doctors out there who know sign language.
My question is this; Should my Associate and Bachelor Degrees be in "American Sign Language" or should they be of something related to the medical field? (Such as biology.)
According to wikipedi.org (if I remember correctly) it does not matter what your Bachelor Degree is in, as long as you have one to attend medical school. If this is true, I could have 4 years of learning sign language, and 4 years of learning medicine at medical school.
Would this be the best route? Is my recognition of a wikipedia article correct? What would be the best major for my Associate and Bachelor Degrees?
Any other helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time, have a great day.
