educate me on computers?

Hello, I have been playing World of Warcraft for about 4 years now, but haven't played for about 8 months. As you may know a new expansion has come out and I'm ready to play again. However, I do not have a computer suitable for the gaming. My brother had a Gateway gaming laptop that performed EXTREMELY well and never froze, lagged, etc. it had amazing graphics and ran smoothly. It was by far the best gaming computer we've ever owned. the last computer i played WoW on (I am currently using it- it is old and corrupt as I've not had anti-virus software on it for a few months) is a HP dual core with vista. I rely on my brother for picking great gaming computers for the both of us. I do not have the option of relying on him anymore and I'm looking to educate myself in computers. If you could maybe reccomend a forum for me or a website or even a computer for me to use. I appreciate any help. Pardon my ignorance toward this subject
