Edonkey vs. Emule

what the hell is an emule?
is that anything like the shows they do down in tijuana?
Emule is just another filesharing program that connects to the same network Edonkey does. It also connects to the Kad network which is a fairly new network created by eMule. No, its nothing realted to the shows in itjuana AFAIK. Its simply called Emule because a mule is a crossbread of a hourse and a donkey. Homepage of Emule is http://www.emule-project.net You can find more information about eMule there. Personally, I choose Emule over Edonkey but thats my choice.

I would like to say that I prefer Edonkey, but unfortunately I'm using Amule (a Linux Emule client) right now.

The problem that Emule created at one point was that it was destroying the Edonkey network by being too aggressive in its attempts to get the highest points in the queues. Often this was causing "bogging" down on the server side.

I'm hoping that this has been resovled. Does anyone know?

I use both, manly because Overnet stopped development. They both connect to the same network (Although Emule also connects to Kad and Edonkey also connects like Overnet). They are both spyware free (in edonkey, you have to uncheck it durring installation). Erm, try both, see which one you like better. You can have both on the same computer, no conflicts.

I use the new version for rare content (radio broadcast, audiobooks, old tv shows). Its in the 1.2.1 stage. If I want to download some popular stuff, I just use Overnet 0.52.

Congratulations. You have downloaded a client which is blatantly breaking the GPL. It is an old version of Emule Plus.

WARNING! a "new" client was released with the name eMule++.
This client is breaking the GPL as the published sources doesn't match
the compiled program features. Please don't get fooled as it's an old
eMule Plus release modified in a way that can be dangerous.

doobs - I used to use Kazaa++ around 2 years ago. After I switched to eMule (Original) I found it wasn't quite cutting it. Shareza ran pretty slow for me too and Overnet took too long to establish connections.

eMule Plus (Please check my sig below for link) has everything, and it is not memory intensive like the more familiar clients.
