Edge of Darkness - the remake, more anti-English propaganda ?

News that Mel Gibson is to release a new version of the old BBC series Edge of Darkness.
Also in the film will be Ray Whinstone.
I wonder what kind of role he will play
I wonder if this will live up to Gibson's and American film's record of anti - English bigotry

Ray Winstone is playing the film's equivalent of Jedburgh, the hero's principal helper, not a villain in the original piece.

We will see, but it will be intresting to see how the character is played.

The producers are English and the Kiwi-born director made both the original BBC production and some not-noticeably-anti-English Bond movies.

From the YouTube trailer it looks like a complete relocation to the US. It may well turn out to be a generic American 'one man against the world' movie with only the title and synopsis remaining from the original. No reason to suspect it will be anti-British.

De Niro was originally cast as Craven. I think he could have redone Peck's brooding angry persistence well. Gibson, I suspect, will be more aggressive and unhinged.
