easy riddle. 10 points?

Two people are running beside each other at the same pace. One person starts to speed up yet they are still beside each other. How is this possible?
 
even though the speed/pace is the same the timing isnt so if sumone has a head start, then the other 1 starts after, then speeds up, they can b next 2 each other.\
