hi a group of about ten of us are going away for two weeks, we'll be staying in tents in a caravan park..we'll have access to many shops...a basic kitchen with a fridge, microwave and maybe stove..

any ideas for easy cheap but tasty meals that will feed a group of 18-20 year old boys and girls??

it owuld be great if theyre fun to make and everyone could join in

heres what i was thinking:
-barbeques--like sausages and steak and all that
-maybe an easy pasta one night --just cook spaghetti and put on pasta sauce
-fish and chip/pizza/burgers a couple of times for take out
-cold meat sandwiches
-a big plate of lettuce, cheese, diff cold meats etc..and bread--we can make what we want
-homemade hamburgers

any further ideas? as i said, its not bush camping, but we will be in tents, were leaving in two days so ideas would be great

thanks

check out my other questions
- fire restrictions, we wont have a cmapfire
-its hot weather- cool stuff owuld be good

get some military meals MRE,s they also have heaters all you have to do is add water and it heats up no fire
don,t have to refrigerate them or cook them
you asked this same ? about 3 wks ago , and your leading this Group ?

you could baked potatoes, all you have to do is get them ready like you would at home, wrap them in foil, and bury them in the hot coals of the campfire. You can also roast corn that way, but don't bury them in the coals, you need to be able to turn it some. You can make a lot of different vegetables that way.

Breakfast I usually make oatmeal, just boil water and add it to the bowl of instant oatmeal with raisins or cranberries and cinnamon. And as everyone stated abve you can make eggs a zillion different ways or even egg sandwiched using English muffins toated over the fire on a grill (or toaster if you have one)

Lunch like you said cold cuts and sandwiches are easiest. Maybe a soup on a really cold day.

Shish Kabobs are real easy on the grill. You can use cubed beef or cut up chicken or even shrimp or lamb with green peppers and cherry tomatoes. If it`s cold out a good big pot of stew or chili is always great, it`ll keep you warm and its real easy to cook.

Desserts/Snacks- Well besides S`mores...you can get a bag of apples and with a knife cut the core out and pour some sugar and cinnamon down the center, wrap with aluminum foil and toss it in the coals of the fire. When its real soft it`ll come out tasting like apple pie filling. Or you can get the crescent roll dough (the one that comes in the tube like pillsbury) and buy a small can of apple pie filling and make an apple stroudel like pocket. Put a wad of butter in the foil and toss it in the coals.

Didn't you ask this question not too long ago?

CHILI! I used to be a girl scout and we'd go camping and have to make our own meals and the chili was always the easiest and my favorite plus it keep you nice and warm!

Packet of bacon
2 large onion
2 large green pepper
3 pounds ground beef
3 packets of chili seasoning or taco seasoning
2 cans, 24 ounce, of kidney beans
3 jars, 24 ounce, of chunky salsa
4 cans, 15 ounce, of mexican style sliced tomatoes
Tabasco Sauce, to taste (I like lots)
2 pounds of sharp cheddar cheese
3 cans of corn
2 cans of olives

Cook bacon and beef first ... simmer everything else in a big pot with some water add seasoning and meat...serve with graded cheese on top. Should serve 20 people maybe could add one less of each ingredient.

For breakfast if you make eggs...Chili is really good to put on top of them also. And lunch if you make grilled cheese or sandwiches chili is a good side dish to dip the sandwich into!
