Eastern Promises

Went to see it this afternoon ...

well It was a Corker ...:)

It was made with joint venture of BBC Films ,
I must say I love Naomi Watts.....an she pulled of the English accent well ,
Viggo Mortensen...this guy is always impressive in his roles ....an here he lets it all out (snigger) an is WONDERFUL ...cannot say more or will spoil plot ...;)

Special mention too
Armin Mueller-Stahl, this blokes a good actor seen him in other films ...

An the STAR Performance was as always by the one an only
Vincent Cassel...
his character here had me *well up/tearful* in this .......without going into his character I really felt sorry for him ...?
I love any film even foreign lang ones he is such a Great actor !!

This is a must see film , Yes its quite brutal but its story is so well written ...
I must add the Tatiana's dialogue sent shivers down me ...

Not a date movie but well worth seeing 9/10

Saw it in Boston earlier this month, in a lovely old traditional cinema. I thought it was an excellent film, but it won't be for everyone.

Apple ...
to true it is a brutal film with its rewarRAB in the class acting ,

btw didnt you feel sorry for Vinny Cassels character?
I can see how being born into that an with his dad ....very upsetting , or maybe thats just me ...?

apple ..
more ..Shakespearean than anything .....Class acting that showed ....

I know a brutal film an yanks are scaredy cats ... not oscar wannabie ? lol...

but this in a country who loves our films ......

Bafta nom a Must at least ..

Went to see the flick this afternoon - astounding. Great to see Cronenberg is still at the top of his game and refreshing to see a London film that could so easily not be London (if your see what I mean). Viggo Mortenson was astonishing - hard to believe that it was the same man that was in LoTR. Naomi Watts also deserves mention for just being so unstarry - took me ages to figure out who she was! Violent, yes, compelling, double yes. GO SEE IT NOW! :D

viggo....naked ...erm yes an somewhat active ...lol

I saw the interview last nite on BB2 that Cronenberg gave to that fop fellow .....He really is a brill Director...

I would say four brutal scenes
at the barbers, Viggo cutting the guys finger off, after the Chelsea game, and of course the baths (the stabbing in the eye was a great scene, totally unexpected)

Love this film, great acting, great script, great directing, can't fault it.

Peter
first of all ......I You Personally liked the whole cine here ...

you as we all drawn into a story that ITV drama do all the time ,
But the film /cine,
Never stopped you loving a class piece of Cinema...

(La Haine .....Class ...)

Peter the nickname here doesnt say if you are male /female?
you maybe a gay man ?
You ask about Viggos Cock ,
I tell you its mighty fine !,
you think about it , he be in filming all day , throwing himself an bad guys ..an all day cold warehouse ...AND He be a Mayor Yank Star naked an cock on show to the masses ...

He deserves an Oscar .... an for that knife move ...

btw

Ed Norton deserved one for that *Bite on that kerb ligger *
violence never gets awarRAB ..:( :(

am i the only one who came away from the film happy that it had ended.

im not sure if its because i wasnt in the right frame mind, but i didnt like it.
dont get me wrong i have watched a few world cinema films before. i watch hollywood / bollywood plus the french/british made together films but i just found it very hard to give a damn about any of the characters.

i felt the main women character and her bike and living at home was very 50 years ago in london.

i came away from the film 50/50. glad i saw it but wouldnt buy it or rave about it at work.

unlike a few i have seen recently which im glad i saw which were.....
the queen, Toutsi (sorry if thats spelt wrong - based in africa - came out 2 yrs ago)
Crash - one of my fav films / also beutifully shot.
The name sake.

I only just got around to watching it but I really enjoyed it as it was a great film. Although I did find the end very sudden and wish it had been a bit longer!
