I had a pint with a friend of mine last night and he told me a story of how one of the lorry drivers stopped at the side of a fen drain where 3 eastern europeans where trying to catch a swan. When he asked them what they where doing they said they wanted to eat it. He tried to tell them that they are protected species and they shouldn't do it all to no avail so the truck driver reversed his lorry up to their car and pushed it into the drain. Why cant these so called visitors to our country grasp our way of life? As we are supposed to be aware of theirs.

Elven child I cant be one hundred percent on the story as I was not there. However I can tell you that the middle level comision that looks after the draining of the fens have removed over 200 gill nets from our rivers locally and I have wittnessed the carcass of a horse that had been stabbed and its back legs removed and eaten after being cooked on a fire near by. Oh and the offenders where caught and prosecuted gues what they came from Bulgaria!

Under threat: swans are protected by a royal charter
A major investigation has been launched by Scotland Yard into claims that the
Queen's swans are being stolen in their hundreds by gangs of asylum-seekers who are cooking and eating them.
The birds, which belong to the Crown
under an ancient charter and are also
protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act,
are a common sight on the capital's ponds
and rivers — but their numbers have plummeted recently.
An official Metropolitan Police report said
east European poachers
were luring the royal
birds into baited traps
then eating them.
The probe comes after a
group of men were
caught red-handed by
police in an east London
park.
The asylum seekers
were barbecuing a duck
and officers found two
dead swans, ready to be
roasted, concealed in
bags.
