Easter Dinner

Rather than rattle off my Easter menu 3 months in advance and then
hide the pictures, I'll just show you afetr it's all done. I know
Kent and Catz always have some valuable feedback for me (which I will
ignore).

The star of the show was a 7lb pork butt smoked over pecan and apple
for 6 hours until it reached about 185F (supposedly - I think it was
higher but my probe is off).

I also smoked some briefly brined greenshell mussels while I was
waiting. These are now in a olive oil marinade and are awesome.

The dinner plate consists of smoked pork butt, cole slaw, deviled eggs
(mandatory on Easter), toasted pesto ciabatta bread, and mini-creamer
potatoes in herb and garlic EVOO roasted in a 500F oven for 12
minutes. The potatoes are a new favorite of mine.

Dessert will be a home made It's-It made with oatmeal molasses cookies
and dulce de leche ice cream.

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

You got me at "7lb pork butt smoked over pecan and apple". Pity I can't
access the images. My prediction for Easter was right - we ended up at
a nice little restaurant and I had some slow roasted brisket with mash,
runner beans, and broccoli. Not too bad.

And you! That all looks so good. We had grilled lamb, but it wasn't a
leg like my mom said it would be; it was a Crown Lamb Rack, and
delicious. No leftovers. My potatoes went over well, and no leftovers of
that either. The shrimp salad in phyllo cups were gone in no time, and
the rest of our feast was a salad, sauteed asparagus, sauteed green
beans, homemade bread with garlic and herb butter, and chicken as
another meat option for the kids who didn't like the lamb. Deserts were
my strawberry cake and my mom made a key lime pie. Too much of both of
those leftover after all of the good food we'd already eaten.

PBBBLLLTT! :-p

You can see the pictures on Facebook, can't you?

More to the point, it's ridiculous to expect photos here. Only paranoid
assholes feel they have the right to demand photos. I like posting to
Facebook because I know that every time I write about it here, it makes
Pussy's blood pressure rise.

Speaking of Facebook, I see that Sycophant opened a Facebook account after
all those years of talking shit about it. Is she on *your* list of friends?

My hostess served

endive stuffed with an herby cheese filling, as far as I could
tell.

puff tartlets with cayenned salmon

baked ham
mashed potatoes with rosemary and goat cheese (had seconds)
creamed spinach
pineapple and raisin gravy
pineapple stuffing

Another guest brought a Key Lime pie on graham cracker crust.

I lugged along my usual bottles of Beefeaters and Frangelico, for him
and her respectively.

I was trying to use it adjectivally. Anyhoo, the stuff was a bit hot
and many went uneaten.

Why not? Pepper is used as a verb.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

I have lots of ground peppers, but when I want heat - I reach for the
cayenne.

Whenever you announce your menus months in advance and ask for
suggestions and then brag about it, and then purposely tell people to
go fuck themselves in advance even though they haven't asked to see
them (like you've done to Sheldon). It would be only common curtesy
to post them every once in a while.

Uh, whatever. I didn't demand photos. This was the first time I ever
even mentioned your photos. I was just implying you are lame for not
doing so.

Now that our pictures are being stolen out of ABF by yet another web
site, I'm looking for alternatives. I would post them on facebook (I
do sometimes) but I don't like how they shrink them below my preferred
viewing size (1280x960).

I've never heard Sheldon express dismay. Are you sure that's not all
in your head? I post a small portion of my pictures here so he and
Kent can critique them uncontrollably and make asses out themselves.

I noticed that this morning, too (wasn't home for few days). "Katra
Hcfs". And that two of her 20 friends are the same person. Heh.

Facebook is suggesting we be friends based on a few friends we have in
common. Which is probably how you noticed it, too.

No - *I* wasnt' using it - the hostess did. I was referring to the

Anyhow, everyone politely downed one and reached for a drink fast.

Huh? I don't remember that at all! I thought you were on my friends list.
Now I see you are not. I assumed you had dropped me, rather than the other
way around. At any rate, the photos all get posted to Lin's Facebook account
because she's the one with the photographic talent, not I. At any rate, now
that the omission has been brought to my attention I've sent you a friend
request.

Sheldon and PVC don't *ever* deserve to see photos of my food. They befoul
it just by looking. If they beg hard enough for me to believe they're
sincere, I might consider it in the future. OK, here's one picture for you:

You're not the paranoid asshole in question.

Every time Pussy uses the phrase "keyboard kook" he's expressing his
frustration at not seeing photos of my food. I love it!

Yep.

Just kidding. I think. The politics of facebook, I tell ya. It's a
whole different world than Usenet or email.

Baby shitake and a slice of king oyster? (not to be confused with
matsutake)?

OK, I get it. I of course don't read more than 10% of the posts here,
so I don't know everything that goes on. Maybe somebody could compile
a weekly condensed digest like they do for soap operas (which appear
to be dying in favor the equally offensive Reality TV and Doctor Shows
for Women).

The little ones are from a head of oyster mushrooms. They're floating on top

oyster mushroom in the middle. The little green sprigs are chervil.
