I honestly feel very badly for what has happened in China concerning the earthquakes. I would never wish such mass chaos and death upon anyone, not even my worst enemy.
That being said....when natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf states in the U.S., I remember reading on here, and seeing in the news, and various programs Chinese people not giving a damn, and even praising what happened, saying we deserved it, and we had it coming, in a condescending way, almost as if they were happy about it.
When a bridge in Minnesota collapsed killing many people, Chinese people laughed, and called us idiots because we didn't see it coming.....when the earth around the bridge began to break down from the river banks....only over 2 weeks time...barely even enough time time to take visual notice to it.
Now China is accepting our help, and our aid, and our doctors, and begging for help, asking us to help control the diseases that are spreading because of these natural disasters.
Any American would gladly and blindly help in any way they could, under circumstances like this....even though our 2 countries have been "not so good of friends" in the past, and even in recent times. We would never talk down to them in such a desperate time for them.
Can anyone think of anything between our 2 cultures that would cause us to be so different?
It seems like when the Chinese people talk trash.....they mean it with every inch of there being. When an American talks trash, it's only skin deep, and all can be forgiven if the situation dictates it.
Like I said, I hate to hear things like what has happened in China with the earthquakes, and how many people have died (estimated 100,000), on top of all the other problems that come along with it.....but I just can't see it from they're eyes how they talked about us in our time of need. We didn't do anything to them....at least nothing that resulted in personal affect to their citizens.....it was only between our govenments.
To Victor, Not sure which part of my rant you don't believe. You can check the CDC websites for detailed aid info, and what part they are playing in it. Maybe you don't believe what I said about some Chinese people talking badly about when we had some of our natural disasters.....this comes from personal experience, and things I not only saw with my own eyes, but heard from some of them on Yahoo Answers. I have no reason to have a personal problem with Chinese people in general. I'm not one of those people that likes to hate for no reason. The point of this rant is to see if anyone can see any legitamite reasons as to why these views are so different between Chinese and American people.
I know they're not all like that, and not all the same. I would hate for anyone to assume the same for all Americans.
There is however, a huge difference in thinking between us when it comes to outlooks and views of others not like ourselves. Just trying to figure out why?
