:dizzy:hi all,

about 4 months ago I developed some ear ringing. Have been treating my allergies since about 3 months ago (was found to have seasonal allergies to trees, grass, ragweed, mold and dogs). The hissing and crackling has not gone away with treatment which is flonase, astepro, prednisone, antibiotics, sudafed. The hissing is all day, but will sometimes get a little louder and then really soft. When I pull on my ear lobe, my ear crackles then the ringing get louder for second, so I am sure this is in relation to fluid in there. All my drs's, ENT, Primary, Allergist say it is my eustachian tubes that are swollen causing this sound and pressure. Some days the pressure is really bad. Now, to add to the mix...I am itchy in there! and my throat!

Allergist wants to put me on xyzal now, too. Any thoughts on how I can move this along and out of my ears?!?!? I have never had allergies like this before, but have ALWAYS had sinus problems.

Thank you!

any suggestions on what I can do to help this move along?

I completely understand, I am going through the same thing right now too. I have taken Xyzal and it does absolutely no good for the ear symptoms (in my experience). I am now trying Chlortrimeton and Nasonex with no relief yet. It is frustrating, to say the least. I tried this (with minimal results) to manually massage the outer sides of my neck where my ears feel full. I use a firm downward motion with my thurab. This will help with the ringing, but I'm not sure if it really helps anything else. I wish I could be of more help.

I started having pressure in my ear and it wouldn't pop for about 18 mos. It also hurt like crazy and would ring/buzz.

In addition to my ENT, I went to my Audiologist for testing. For many months, I thought it was just my allergies/sinus problems. It had been some in the past.

Imagine my surprise when I finally figured out it was actually TMJ. The jaw joint is mm's from the ear and was pushing back on the ear. If nothing else is working, you might check into that.

Also, are you on immunotherapy for your seasonal allergies? It isn't an immediate answer, but might be a long term consideration.

What helped me for my allergies/ sinuses: Allegra, Singulair, Flonase, Astelin and the Sudafed, antibiotics and Prednisone as needed. I also use saline rinses and a Neti pot to help "clean" things out.

I wanted to follow up with all of you:) I started xyzal 4 days ago and I can't begin to explain the relief it has provided. After 6 months of ear pain, fluid and noises my ears are 80 percent better on 4 days of xyzal. No other allergy meRAB worked and I was reluctant to try this one. Within 2 hours of taking it my ears opened (after 6 months of fullness!)I am taking sudafed with it every 4 hours and feel like my ears and eustachian tube are finally getting back to normal. If you are having ear problems due to allergies try xyzal!!
