e815 w/ verizon bit the dust, who can i confidently pass the torch to?

i had a fully loaded e815... custom everything out the wazoo you could do with this phone. evdo tethering, counterstrike skins, custom wallpapers/ringers/contact pix/startup and shutdown anims, everything. very used to having a phone that can do it all.

i want, well, need a new phone that has all the same goodies. i want all of what i had with the e815... things i didn't use were the transflash external memory, never needed 512 MB of mem for songs or other media, i have an iPod for that heh. nor did i use the internet, since i bring my laptop around and use the cell to tether.

tethering isn't paramount, but it sure is convenient! I need a new verizon phone recommendation from preferably some1 who owned an e815 and loved it for every single awesome reason they could love it for, and then upgraded to a phone that made them equally satisfied. i'll be searching the forums in the meantime, and i need a phone.

verizon states i have 30 days to return the phone and exchange for a diff one, so i CAN pick up a phone in the meantime and return it... looking at the LG chocolate. i have the new-every-two $100 rebate, plus i'm gettin a 2yr plan (which i can get a new phone @ promo price @ 12 month mark) which will allow me to get that phone for nothing after rebates. So i'm willing to get a fairly expensive phone, nothing crazy. Preferably not spending more than $200 (total = $200 w/ 2yr contract, AFTER subtracting $100 for new-every-two and other online discounts and such from verizon web store)

sorry for the overly long post, but i like to be specific. any and all help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

p.s. let me also add that it can be very difficult to navigate these posts in this "what phone to get" section of this forum. I was looking for a post regarding what phone to get w/ verizon, and next to nobody states what service provider they want a new phone for in their posts' title. stating the service provider can help some1 who has that provider (and dubdub states "you should always pick your carrier first") find posts related to their similar quest for a new cell that much quicker, and therfore easier!!

The e815 was a good phone. I used it for a few months. Personally I think the enV is the best phone verizon carries, but it sounds like you wouldnt be in to a messaging phone so I would say the lg 8600 or 8700.

I know that everyone has this phone but I think the Motorola Razr V3c is an excellent replacement because it can do everything the e815 did and you can customize it up to the brim with pix animations, themes and more. I have personally owned this phone and loved it just like my e815

I'll prolly hafta agree with abercrombie121 on this one. Esp. now that there's a Bell flash out for the v3c, you can get real close to what your e815 is/used to be without sacrificing too much.

i ended up getting a krzr... well, im happy with how it looks externallly (matches my watch which matches my ring perfectly) so it's classy. i have successfully modded it in just about every way i did with the e815 ala ringers, wallpapers, i have OBEX file transfer, backing up phonebook, etc. i just HATE the mp3 player lag! my god is it me or is this phone just incredibly slow?

i'm guessing its the verizon UI. i had the e815 for 2 years, i know the UI was around then but i had a vx6100 b4 that and that didin't have the UI i dont think it was around then. either way, this phone is a bit too slow for my tastes.

bombamyte, im going to look into the bell flash you're talking about. i never flashed my e815 because it did all i needed it to do, but i might do so with this phone. thanks every1 for advice
