e71-2 NAM Firmware update

I am really hoping the new firmware solves the problem I am having with the bluetooth being unable to connect with my vehicle. It?s the strangest problem, the first time it paired, transferred all of my contacts, and worked perfectly, after that it just says unable to connect. After a hard reset I got it to connect again, and the same thing happened. I've researched this quite a bit and it seems to be working fine for other people.

well how fast do the contacts load after the initial loading of them after a fresh restart? cause that initial lag is pretty normal for contacts with all the s60 phones i've owned, e71 included. it just loads it into temp memory after a restart, and then as long as you used the EXIT button (not the red end key) to close it out, the contacts will open instantly each time you open it again.

Ya I upgrade my firmware and it made ALOT of programs not work anymore. Things like Nokia Email and FRING! Internet Radio playsback very slowly now for some reason. NOT Happy. I also can't seem to recover my Calendar entries that I backed up with Nokia Suite, but Contacts and Text Messages did resinstall. Weird.

SO many problems, how do I go back to the old firmware? I don't care what it takes I need to go back to it. Please help anyone? I'm panicking here.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (E71-2: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.11355/420; U; en))

Can anybody please tell me if the update fixes the so called feature when you change profile to anyhing other than Normal, it instead places the profile name on top right hand corner on main menu, and removes the date . I find it really stupid for a business device to do that. There is so much more room on top bar for information, but they decided to remove the date instead....

just updated it last night and can't say i really understand what nokia was thinking...

the built in browser seems to be updated, seems faster but it's already crashed on me once already.
they've changed so that to use your speed dial you now press, for example, "2" and then press talk rather than holding onto 2. imo that sucks.

but other than that...

they still haven't fixed or at least give the option of changing it so that when you receive an SMS from "John Doe", it's not shown as "Doe John" but rather first name first.
the camera still doesn't save your last used settings, it always reverts back to auto mode and auto flash.
they still haven't fixed the inability of the phone to tell the difference of (555) 123-4567 and (556) 123-4567 in terms of having two contacts with those two phone numbers.

And no the camera isn't better for anyone who wants to know, although imo, i really don't think fixing the camera should be their priority. i bought this phone for a business device, and if they can't even get their business functions to be working properly, i should be moving on.

i'm gonna try to connect to my BT headset tonight and see if at least that has been fixed... but I wouldn't be too optimistic.

I was able to REINSTALL all of my apps, and they run flawlessly.
Nokia Email, Garmin, Skyfire, shazam, and conversations all run well with no lag.

I used Nokia PC Sync to sync my calendar and contacts to outlook. They all transferred over very well, however there seems to be a glitch either
in my outlook or resyncing the contacts to the phone where the avatar/picture id of one contact will continually show up for every contact after that until there is another picture id contact.

ie. person A - picture of person A
person B - picture of person A
person C - picture of person A
person D - picture of person D
person E - picture of person D

It seems to me there must be some hardware difference between the E71-2's with different product codes, otherwise they would have released both of the updates at the same time. I wonder if that has anything to do with the poor performance people are seeing that changed their product code to get the upgrade

this is not gonna be fixed, because its been like that for all nokia s60 phones, ever. so i see no reason why nokia would suddenly decide to change this for this one random firmware update on one particular random model. it sucks, i know. such is the way with nokia. makes you wonder.

I don't see any performance issues with the new FW. I have changed the product code to update the FW. I have been using for the past 2 days & no dropped calls yet. I am hoping they fixed the RF issue.

Roger what bug are talking about? The old thing I have notice is the #= silent now, when viewing my bookmarks the web is more stable ( meaning it do not crash any more while looking at bookmarks), and when I highlight contacts in my phone book I see a Blue tint when highlighting a name.

So has anyone with the product code that had tetris and tiger woods updated it yet andwere you able to keep those programs??

I'm wondering becuase my sister's E71-2 came with those and i haven't updated hers yet because i'm afraid of losing those apps.

Is there a way to get those from her E71 to mine??

TIA
From my Nokia E71

Maybe, I'm completely guessing here, they just updated the firmware on the first batch of e71's, which had the RF issue? That's the only thing I can think of?

Wrong guess. No RF issue here from day 1 and I got updated. What happened here was that Nokia forgot to update 1 or 2 NAM product codes. Updates should be live soon.

I've been running NSU all the time looking for the new firmware, it isn't there so I decided I may as well reflash the old firmware. I did that with product code 0569371 and tetris and tiger woods are included.
