e65 vs n80

i want to know what you guys think between them.. i'm deciding if i'm going to get the e65 or the n80. I have heard people say they are the same, but they claims that the e65 is just the n80 in a smaller packet. Care to share some opinion on these phones? what are the current prices of them?

I don't have experience with the E65, but I've handled the N80. The N80 felt very cheap and the slider felt loose and could break easily. Basically, the phone wasn't very solid to handle. Additionally, the phone felt awfully thick while battery life is short.

From what I've gathered, the E65 is superior in every way. I think the interface for the gallery on the N80 is nice, but it's not something too important to me.

E65 is superior to N80 in all aspects except the call quality. The voice is not clear as in N80, it gets muffled due to too much bass & lack of trebel on it.

I haven't experienced the E65 so I won't comment on it, however I've had two N80s.. The first one was a ' Made by Nokia' aka China issue and the slider was a bit loose. What really turned me off was the battery door creaking... annoyed the hell outta me so I sold it...

Fast forward 10 months and I just bought my second N80 [ Internet Ed. this time] and the slider is tight, battery life is so-so.. depends on how you use it, camera is slightly better but still no auto-focus.. but that's okay.. but NO Creaks.. the phone feels SOLID state!!.. This is a 'Made in Finland' N80ie.. so who knows..

But, as of now, I am totally impressed with my N80!! and while I refused to recommend this phone earlier, now I'm all for it!

i have owned 3 N80's and now own the E65

over all the E65 beats out the N80 in all aspects except for camera quality which ain't far off of the N80 3.2 camera

the N80 slider is solid and the phone is solid
the E65 slider is smooth and has a spring assisted feel and also this is a solid phone

over all the E65 has been my favorite phone to date .......until i buy the N95 of course

From what I've seen, as bad as the n80 cam can occasionally be (and it's not as bad as everyone *****es about, look at some of my Flickr pictures for proof), the e65 cam is HORRIBLE.

im trying to decide between the two as well...my damn k750i joystick completely gave out, down to actually dialing numbers now. anyways main differences between the two are:
E65 vs N80
-240x320, 16mil colors vs 352x416, 256k colors
-2.0mp camera vs 3.2mp camera with flash
-1000mah batt vs 820mah
-of couse size, n80 is almost twice as thick as e65.

bah...n80 internet edition is also cheaper, about 50bucks, decisions!

I think that might be oversimplifying it a bit. There are other differences as well. For example, after having used the N80 for a while, I cringe when I see the displays on most devices. That's actually one of the reasons I won't be buying an N95. The N80 display is simply amazing...

Displays are very important to me of course - after all, you look at it when you do just about anything on your phone!

I very much agree, going from an n80 to an e61 was a shock... the display on my e61 pales in comparison (quite literally) to the n80.

I actually think I might go back to an n80 at this point... the cam isn't as good as the n73 or the n93, but it gets the job done, and I loved the n80 in all other ways.

Mine is from May 2006 made by the famous ex-rubber boot makers in Finland and the slider and the battery cover was/is crap. So maybe they changed something in the manufacturing later. Finland vs China 1:1

i'm debating between the two as well. i just picked up a n73. i've played with the n80 but haven't owned one yet. but from what i've heard the software on the n80 is much slower when compared to the n73? anyone can comment on that? and when compared to the e65?

The display didn't stand out to me personally. No matter what the specs say, there's very little point cramming the resolution and colors into such a tiny display.

Well i'm glad somebody said that...I noticed my N80ie being the zippiest of all V3's i've used thus far. The little guy could just flat-out mooove

I agree with you 100% Olly. I mean, with all of the amazing themes and visually complex apps out there, why settle for QVGA?

And I can't disagree more with:

Hold an N80 and an E65/N73/etc side by side and the difference smacks you in the face. Better yet, hold an N80 next to an N91 and you'll think the N91 is 10 years old! It's funny that people spend all of this time and money on the biggest and best plasma screen TVs with 1080i etc but they don't seem to care about the display on their cell phone - the most used portable electronic device in the world...

The biggest problem with the N80 - as any N80 user will attest to - is the battery life. Of course all of these features come at a cost. I happen to like the thickness and weight of the phone but a better battery would have made it even thicker so no-can-do. If you're like me and many other people though, you're in an office five days per week so charging the N80 once a day for an hour or so isn't really a problem at all.

As for the camera, there's no question that it's not great. If you take a pic outdoors in good lighting though, the quality is actually very good for a camera phone. I have several other cameras though and rarely use my N80 over my 5mpxl exilim or my 8mpxl SLR so I can't really comment much on this area...

having seen the E65 specs, if I had the choice I probably would have chosen the E65 over N80, but really if you have a charger at your work, home and in your car, battery won't be an issue with the N80, also have some spare batteries laying around just in case.

I agree that battery life is a complaint... but if you don't overdo the wifi aspect of it, it'll last the day most likely. I sms a lot, surf the web over EDGE a lot, etc... unless I was using WiFi, the battery was acceptable, if not stellar.

Oh, and for those that are interested, here's a link to a photoset on Flickr of mine that is entirely composed of N80 shots... as you can see, not as good as the n73 or n93, but it's really not that bad:

Shozu is great, definitely give it a try. When you take a pic, you get a little popup asking if you want to upload your pic, or add more detail (or cancel of course). You can add Flickr tags, change the title, etc, and then it uploads in the background (without losing resolution like an MMS does). It also uploads more efficiently than email does.
