E65 vs N80

well, the E65 only has a 2mp cam with no flash, and it has those keys in the middle junking everything up.

but it's also alot thinnner than the N80. Those are about the only differences, really. both have wifi and quad-band.

ic. I like the N80 spec too even though we don't really need the 3G in Canada. (not even available at this moment)

N80 has been in the market for a while. Any new quadband, WiFi symbians compatible to it in terms of size and functions at the same price range (or cheaper) ?

Folks,

Both handsets are targeted for different subscribers... N80 is for the "in-crowd' who demands for gadgets, with all the bell and whistles while E65 is carrying the traditional corp. type users who focus more on fundamentals, core features. And, Rcadden, I particularly like the dedicated buttons... while they may be cluttering but I treat them as practical "fantastic four"!

I have got my N80 and love it. However, I am intending to add E65 in my collection. Sure, no 2nd camera for video call, but after played it for a few times in Italy and Hong Kong, I am done with the novelty. Most of my peers are not that enthusiastic with it even the cost is going down eventually. Regarding the flash light of N80, it is there but not helping marginally compare to some other handsets. I have compared it with some from Motorola, LG, Sony Ericsson, it appears the flash on the N80 is relatively weaker. Plus, the weakest link of N80 to me is battery life even with some claims that the current firmware offers a boost, I still want mine to last from the moment I left home till get to bed. Hopefully, the 1000mAh battery in E65 will live up the expectation.

So to me, the E65 trade-off would be fewer gadgets but more practical.

Loriolus,

I do not think it is an accurate assumption...

N80 has a 18-bit color screen, size at 2.25" with resolution of 352x416 pixel
E65 has a 24-bit color screen, size at about 2.35" with resolution of 240x320 pixel

So it may be what you think. Plus, the critical item is the backlit of the screens. It all depends how much juice they will suck.

i would take the n80 to be honest, but i will need to see how good..or bad the e65's battery is. No use even if the phone is the best if its battery suck!

I will go with the nokia E65 coz it is smiller and I know does not have a flash but still camera takes very good pictures where as n80 does not take pictures close to anyother 3camera phone
I think I will go with e65 for sure as compared to n80

I'm no expert, just my personal thoughts.
I think E65 is better, apart from the camera, which sadly is really bad in E65.
I'm using N80 now and planning to replace it with E65.
N80 is kinda fat, uncomfortable to wear in pocket (slider can even open by itself), not really comfortable in hand.
Plus it seems that E65 have semi autoslide function...

I don't own neither one of these phones, but based on reviews and photos, I would go for the E65.
personally, camera is no an issue, but the size, the slider and the battery are.
It just looks so slick on the pictures i've seen, and the way the slider opens...
I think it will become a winner for sure.

I think that this thread could go on forever but the real question is - What are your needs? Everyone as a different opinion but if you tell us what you're looking for it might help people give more useful advice.

I agree with the above. For me, I need Blackberry Connect. I see that it is on the Business site now as a device to choose from even though the software isn't available yet. With that my money will go towards a e65. I thinks the specs are great and will replace my e70-2 just fine.

I wonder why they cost almost same, considering E65 is new model and seems to be better all around (only drawback is 2 vs. 3 Mp in N80), not to mention obvious design advantages of E65 (phone looks slick and is slimmer).
Does that mean that if i buy E65, in next couple of months it will be even more cheaper than N80, since prices on new models are usually higher at the beginning and later they tend to fall?
