E65 Owners Slider help and colour and some options ???

HI all was wondering if you could help before I buy

Q1 I was in the shop and tried a E65 the brown version ???? brown it looks more black grey to me , lol are these brown it was hard to tell ? i am not keen on brown but does it look the same colour in the sunlight as indoors or is it abit more brown ???

Q2 Another problem was the slider, I found that if you used the screen or just above the buttons or any where you had to push down on the top slider it was hitting the keypad under the slider like it was scratching it and made a very rough sliding action.

Now if I used my thumb and slide the slider from the left or right side of the top part of the phone and not pushing down on the screen it was smooth or pushing up from the bottom it was ok to but abit awkward , it seems to me that the top slider is abit to close to the keypad and any slight pressure will make this scratching sound I have tried these on 3 different models and all the same ???

so the only way to slide the phone is not to push down on the screen then slide but to push from the side and up or down to stop this

has anyone with the E65 agree with me ???? can you try it.

Q4 also i read i can not remember but an app running constantly in the background which may inadvertently affect the phone's performance. ???

is this true what do they mean by this just battery life or will the phone slow down to much ?????


all I want to add to this phone and run is

1 a new theme with icon change
2 lock keypad app
3 maybe run a app for bigger caller id pics
4 a rotate app if i can find one

would this effect the phone to much ???????


Q5 also when I run some of these can you have the option to have the apps on the home page that are running on or off on the screen I mean , so I can have a app running but no icon or info on the mains screen

Q6 also can you configure the 2 keys that are displayed on the screen at the bottom, I know it has single key you can use to run a app but can you change the left and right key as i dont want the camera set to on of these is that ok

1. thats the brown colour.. i have that one.. i sorta wish i got red instead.

2. my slider doesnt scratch the buttons or anything like that when i push down and up to open it....

4. you can run all those apps and be fine... they are all available for the phone..... you might need to sign the rotate app yourself though..

6. yes u can set these 2 keys to anything
 
1) Yep, that's the Mocha. It looks a lot more brown under sunlight.

2) Probably a defective handset - mine has no scratching regardless of how i slide it open.

4) Depends on what the app is doing. If it's a simple keylocker, it won't have much of an effect on either battery or "quickness" of the phone. If it's an app that constantly uses the CPU in the background, it will drain the battery faster and your phone will be more sluggish.

5) Yes, you can have an app running completely in the background.

6) Yes.
 
how much more brown do you think ? as i seen this in a shop with lots of lights i could hardly tell it was brown ?

i have looked at the red and found i did not like it as it was to much

why do you not like brown ?????

is there a black version i can not find it

i was going to get the samsung u600 but when i saw this it looked quality and build was good to and fter reading about the software you can seem to do alot with this phone and even add more features with other apps

the only other phone i looked at was the n95 but it was abit to big and i think the price of the phone is way to much

and all the N series phones are just to big and bulky

any problems with the phone at all??? i am going to get htis on O2 or orange
 
also why are people asking for the finland versions are thay better made than the cina versions or is it the other way round just alot of people want the finland version ????

It's raining here today, so I can't get you a pic of it in direct sunlight - bump this thread in a few days and I'll take a pic with my digicam.

I love the brown. After seeing high-res pics of the red (search this forum for the thread), I prefer the brown to red even though initially I was planning on getting the red version.

There's a black version (supposedly) but it's only available from the UK provider "Three".

Personally, no problems with mine thus far - the not keylocking automatically was a bit of a nuisance at first, but after I got a auto-keylocker app, even that became a non-issue.

I have the Singapore version (that's the one with the globe key instead of the own key), and it has no problems that people have reported (like gaps between the slider and rest of phone, or slider scratching the keys). It depends on the phone you get - you can get a bad apple whether it's made in China or in Finland. Don't think that the Finland phones are 100% defect-free.
 
q1 i herd theres a few bugs in the software and that peoiple are still waiting for a new firmware for 2 months ?????

like i said i will only use this phone for calls and TXTs and run these apps

q2 has your phones slowed down at all ???? is there screensavers on this phone ?

q3 i was woundering what the call quality is like and is the phone loud when ringing as i need a loud ringing phone.

q4 when you run an app like say keylocker will it show as a icon on the main home page or can you have this as an option for any app that you run to have it visable on the home screen on and off ?

q5 also just one more thing is it only the home screen that as the very small fonts i have seen videos of the phone and it looks to me the home screen only has the small fonts and the contact lists and options all have bigger fonts is this true ???

q6 is the photo gallery fast is it the same view as the n95 or diffrent does it have thumbnails ???

q7 is the video player fast to pleays moviews stright away like the n95 ???

also when the phone is shut and say you get a missed TXT message or missed Phone call can you see if you have any missed without sliding or pressing a key can you see it like you can see the clock when the screen is dark ???

q2) No.. dunno

q3) Call quality is great - check numerous reviews. On max volume, its friggin LOUD - I once set the profile to Outside, and then went to work and forgot that I had it set as that. When my phone rang I jumped in my chair cause it was so loud.

q4) I've answered this already - no icon.

q5) Contacts and options do have bigger fonts. Inbox has small fonts. Actual messages ahve bigger fonts. It depends.

q6) Pretty quick, but not as quick as SE. No idea with regards to N95. Yes, it has thumbnails.

q7) don't know

q8) Yes, it gives you icons for both missed calls and missed texts, and it shows the clock when the screen is dark.

if you get diffrent themes will this make the fonts bigger??? can themes change fonts ? as i am after the N95 theme can not find it for theE65
 
Hi back agian. lol

well went and done it bought this phone today and its such a nice phone but a couple of problems its a shame that 95% of the font sizes in this phone are perfect and the other 5% not been to small i can read it no problems but its a littile tricky when the sun hits the screen should have made then scale, anyway just a few questions.

Q1 what is the best settings you have for the light sensor mine was set to 50% but have up it to 100% is this for the screen to get brighter in sunlight or to make the keypad light up in a darker light ????

Q2 i have about 10 TXT messages i can only seem to delete 1 at a time how can you delete them all in one go as its abit of a pain i can not seem to find any option in the TXT inbox to delete all can anyone help

Q3 where do you dump music files i transfered 1 music file mp3 with pc nokia suite but i can only select it for ringtone and not music tp lay and listen to in the media draw lib ????

Q4 when you press the phone keypad when its locked and in the closed slider postion when you hit a key on the phone the screen does not light up to see if you have any missed calls or TxT meassages is there a way to turn this on as on my old SE when in locked mode any key you pressed made the screen light up for 5 sec to check the phone ?

Q5 how do you install themes ??? is there a place to put them on the phone and is there any more info i need to know about these themes

Q6 whats the best way to keep the battery life i have turned of bluetooth is there a way to turn off the always on internet or wifi?.

Q7 is there a way to get the date on the main home screen to like the clock ?

Q8 can new themes make the fonts bigger i have seen this here and the fonts look bigger on the E65 4th post down???

and i am now a owner of a nokia never had one since thay where black and green screens , lol
 
1) No idea - never messed around with that.

2) When you're in Inbox, Options->Mark, then mark which messages you want to delete, then Options->Delete and it will delete the marked messages.

3) You gotta update the music library on your phone first - it'll scan the phone and find the new song. That's in the options.

4) What? when I press a button when the phone is locked, my screen lights up briefly.

5) Use the Application Installer to install the Theme .sis files.

6) Yeah, turn off bluetooth scanning and Wifi scanning.

7) You want the date to like the clock? wtf? But mine displays the date in the main screen. I'd RTFM.

8) Don't know - install the theme and try it.

Also, in the future, RTFM, because it would have answered a lot of your questions.
