e61i vs blackberry8800

i'm looking for my first smart phone, at first i was consdering the 8800 vs Tmobile MDA but i hear the MDA freezes quite a bit, the only real thing im concerned about are battery life, media player, Messaging (not just txt), price of under 800 thats unbranbed, and pretty much overall user-friendliness when it comes to to-do-list, calenders, ETC. i do really want the 8800, but ive heard lots of good things about e61i. And the built in GPS will be the decider if the 2 phones are gonna be generally the same. i've never had a Smart phone, so any and all input would be appericated, thanks in advance
 
realisticly the gps on the bb8800 blows since it's internal it has to be mounted in the car and you have to pay your phone provider to use telenav to use the 3d map and turn by turn. i'd would go for the e61i and get a bluetooth antenna and load up a gps software and the only edge the bb has over the e61i is the push email (which really rocks house)
