e61 with a faulty keypad

Hi

Picked up a new e61, and the keypad has been acting up every since day 2 with the unit.

When typing the letters/or numbers, Y, U, H, J, N,M, it enters 2 characters at a time.

Can this be fixed? It has the latest firmware, and i've already taken the unit a apart to see if the keypad was misaligned.

Could be the keypad has dust underneath it or is too tight.

Tried that, and nothing. I think the board underneath is faulty. =(

try doing a hard reset and leaving the battery out for a day. some how removing the battery after a frimware update solved my problem. and for another guy hid problem was solved by a hard reset and removing the battery. my keyboard had a scrolling issue but still very strange and unusual behavior like yours.

I can't do a hard reset, when enterng the code, i can't type it cleanly, without hitting the backspace key a few times.

I'll try the battery thing.

Hard reset it this way:

remove and insert battery, hold green call button, 3 and * and turn power on.
