E61 Tips & Tricks

if you have flashed your E61 to the latest FW and you dont like the bold font in the SMS editor, you can always press ctrl+B (the bold shortcut key) to turn off the bold and have a regular SMS font, too bad they did not add customizable settings for this...

thanks for quick reply.

like if you have a email open you can hit 1 plus r for example and it will bring up the reply screen

also can you change whats on the today screen instead of that other jiberish that i dont use like multimedia.

Yes, does anyone know how to get rid of the calendar entries displaying on the standby screen when Active Standby in enabled? I'm running Goodlink for my email/calendar which won't display on the Standby screen and would like to remove the calendar list but show my standby apps. Thx.

a while back, i posted the above trick and it seems that the bug is corrected with the new FW 2.0618.06.05...

with this new fw, the Voice Aid Clock does not shutdown... and its a very handy thing at night or when you wake up in the morning and you just dont want to open you eyes yet, but wants to know what time it is... my e61 just replaced my old talking clock... and once you got autolock on, you can just press the "right softkey + chr (car)" key and it will still tell you the time without unlocking the keypad...

Not sure about shortcuts like that on the standard email client. But profimail has sc's slike that for sure.

yes, the "today" screen is customizable, you can change the left and right soft keys, as well as all 7 shortcuts in the active standby. also, your calendar enteries and new email headers can be displayed on the home screen, if you so choose.

I was excited about holding down the mail button to create a message, however, my screen will blank like it is about to do something and then nothing happens. I'm using the 2.x firmware :-(

Another Tip.
Ctrl M in the email screen will mark a message. makes it easy to mark a bunch of messages to delete.

My cure for the page up and down for the web pages has been the # key and the *. One zooms up and the other down. Then you can move with alacrity to any spot in the page. Try it, it works great.

If you want to easily makr a message, hold the shift key (up arrow) and scroll up/down with the joystick.. it will mark as u go.

Or go to options mark/unmark all

how do you change the 7 shortcuts :_)?

yea blackberry and other phones do have shortcuts which im very surprised nokia didnt implement any

how about those 7 shortcuts

thanks in advance

I found the shortcuts!

Press and hold the Function Key (blue arrow) + the keyboard shortcuts (ex. press and hold function key + 3).

Keyboard shortcuts (Press the keys):
1- to open your Bookmarks.
2- to find text.
3- to return to the previous page.
5- to switch between your open browser windows.
8- to open page overview.
9- to go to a different Web page.

This is a really cool function but is there anyway to use voice aid over bluetooth headset? Not sure if you have used the Microsoft Voice Command but you can get battery level, time, and next appointment read out. Is it possible to at least access the Voice Aid functions (clock, recent calls, contacts, etc.) in a similar fashion?
