I'm about to hammer my E61!
Connections ERROR ALL day!
SIM Card Registration Failed All Day!
Turn-on and off, reset...and it will last for few mins..

What Happens!???

I have this same problem. I had a perfectly functional phone except for some minor issues with BlackBerry Connect. I had the phone flashed from firmware version 1.0610.04.04 to firmware version 2.0618.06.05. After this, I stopped pulling signal in places that I normally had excellent reception. I lose connection all the time and am greeted with a "SIM Card Registration Failure" message. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Did it coincide with a firmware update?

Edit: Fixed some typos

Did the problem go away when you switched SIMs? The only reason I think its a problem related to my firmware flash is that I didn't have this problem prior to the upgrade. I'm really upset with myself for doing the upgrade. I ride elevators up an down frequently during the day. I almost always lose signal inside them. I used to be able to pull signal back almost immediately after exiting the elevator. Now, I always get the Network Registration error. I'm going to see if this lasts for another couple days. If so, iUnlock, the people that flashed my phone, said they will try a phone reformat to rebuild the directory structure. Whatever that means. I hope it works.

Here's a little update. I was told by the people at iUnlock (they're very responsive, by the way) that Cingular is the process of decomissioning some towers in Boston, where I'm located. They said that I might be affected by this and it may just be conincidence that these errors happened right after my firmware upgrade. Is there any validity to this argument?

sometimes in places of low service i've gotten sim card registration on my n73, but it's fine almost all the time (there's no service in almost all my classrooms, and i'm in and out all day but i'm fine).

Another update. I had a full reformat done on my phone. I still experience the issue described above. I called cingular and they said the updated the serial number of my device on their end and that should solve the problem. However, I still have the issue. I've only had the phone for a few days, so this problem may be a problem that I've had all along and am just now becoming aware of. This is contradictory to all the reports I've read about the E61 have excellent reception in all situations. Maybe there is some Cingular network issue that nobody is aware of yet and this problem will go away when it is discovered. Who knows. I'm going to give a few more days and see how things go. I'll report back here in case anyone is interested. I'm not too worried as I can always exchange for another phone (I bought it from newegg).

Anyone still having this problem or got it resolved? I upgraded this week to the new firmware and it just started happening a few days after. Was thinking maybe it is my sim card since it's probabley 5 years old. Still says voicestream on it

I had this problem once b4 with my N80 and Tmo... try cleaning ur sim card.. it turned out to be bad contact b/t the card and the phone
