E61-not recognized as usb device after f/w update

When i bought this phone, it had the asian firmware on it and I could hook the phone up to my laptop through the data cable.

After the firmware update to another region, win xp will not recognize it as a valid device.

How would i go about fixing it?

does the phone boot up after the flash?

edit: you could also try to go into device manager on the computer and delete the phones listing and let it re-install.

oh yeah, the phone's working absolutely great...just that my laptop dont recognize it no more.

so at least the phone ins't fried, lol. have you tried doing the "get connected" part in pc suite? then i would say try to remove the e61 from the device manager on your pc.

Where is the E61 in the device manager?

mine shows up in ports/modems/and wireless connections. if you removed them all then reconnect the phone it should re-install all the drivers.

Nope, not there.

I've removed pc suite and am going to reinstall it and see how that goes.

i think there is an option on the pc to show unconnceted devices. also you are hitting "pc suite" on the phone right, just making sure.

Yes, hitting the PC Suite on the phone, not any of the other two options.

so the computer sees it as unknown device, hmmm. mine would sometimes do that and a quick unplug/replug would fix it. have you tried a different usb port?

I'm not home and unable to re-create it: but something around the lines of "usb device not recognized".

I remember, the first time, before the flash, i plugged it in and it was detected as a nokia e61 without any issue.
