I am aware of three routes

1) HS-23 (Fixed HS, No Volume control on Remote, Can take calls on the headset, Fairly inexpensive)

2) HS-20 with AD-41 (3.5 mm removable HS which is supposed to be crappy, Full function Remote, Can take calls on the headset, Somewhat expensive)

3) AD-46 (just the pop to 3.5 mm adapter with full function remote, most expensive of the three plus u need to add the cost of separate HS)

I am not sure if HS-23 will deliver decent music, so its between AD-41 (I intend to throw away HS-20) and AD-46.....Any users who can comment why is AD-46 alone is more expensive than AD-41 plus HS-20......and also which headset to go with either of the AD's (I am prepared to spend no more than 15 USD on headset). The headset must allow handsfree operation.

PS: I am aware of AD-15 too but its too low end and it doesn't support handsfree operation (i.e. u need to remove headset to take calls)

I've been using the AD-41 with the HS-20 (I know it sounds like crap but i'm saving for a better HS)

It works perfectly with the E61.

And what exactly do u mean when you say the HS should provide hands free? Isn't the hands free part taken care of by the AD-41?

I have no idea about the AD-46, apart from the fact that it looks better than the AD-46. Probably better construction or something.

If they provide the same function, better go for the cheaper option, the Ad-41. You can use the HS-20 for sometime till you save up for a better earphone.

Hi,
I just bought the AD-46 and I must say music wise it is definitely an improvement!
I got a couple of good Headphones and now I can use them. I use my E61 for listening to music when biking and with the normal headsets the blowing of the wind will make listening to music almost impossible. With the AD-46 and a good headphone (one which goes into your ear) the sound is so much better (suddenly I can hear the base!) and I can turn it down down again!
I must admit that phonecalls with this combi do sound a bit weird on my side. I hear my own voice when calling mainly from within my head which is a bit strange.

I just checked the Nokia website, and the Ad-46 doesn't have full music control.

I don't know if there is a volume rocker on it, but there doesn't appear to be track control.

So i guess the Ad-41 would be the way to go for total music player control.

Unfortunately, the AD-41 cannot be purchased separately, u have to buy the HS-20 with them.

If the AD-46 is more expensive, it makes sense to buy the AD-41 even if it does come with the HS-20. The AD-41 gives you the ability to pause, play, stop, next previous track and fast forward and rewind.

Can there a more perfect music adaptor?

I use the AD-46 with a set of Sennheiser PXC-250 noise canceling headphones. The sound quality is great and I have a longer battery life on the E61 than on my 4GB iPod. On a plane I can turn the volume to 50% and be very content.

The downside is cabling... The AD-46 is about 30" long from the pop port to the 3.5mm adapter. It's a mess when you already have long cabling on your headphones. Needless to say I've become accustomed to listening to tunes while wrapping in wires...

What I meant was that HS must have a microphone to be able to make calls....I mean If were to attach a normal walkman HS into AD-41, how will I then make a handsfree phone call???? Or is the AD-41 itself acts as Microphone??? (in which case I will be kinda wierd speaking into it )

The Microphone is built right into the Audio Adapter.

Go To the Nokia Site and check them out.

Its just a freaking headset, go out and buy one. Its not like u have to sell a kidney for it.
