E61 colored casings - They are on Ebay, but...?

If you go on ebay, and search for E61 in "Faceplates, Housings" category, you'll see now that there are aftermarket colored fascias.

What Im wondering is if anyone has tried this before?

The E61's original casing is magnesium alloy. I dont want to replace that with plastic.

The E61 ebay casings are quite more expensive than the 6680 casings I bought in the past, but this doesn't garantee a different quality.



PS - I could ask the seller if its made of alloy, but we all know mass sellers will just reply with a no-answer reply, such as "Our casings will fit your E61, yes"
 
I would stay away from anything non nokia. I used to manage a aftermarket accesory stor, and anything not OEM was pure crap. No matter which company made it, aftermarket never fits like real deal OEM.
 
I sent one of the sellers a question about what they are made of, but after viewing many of the listings they seem to be plastic. While the blue looks nice I dont know if I would trust it on my phone.
 
but I so wish Nokia would make more than one color for that phone. But as Shackk said, they seem to be really made of plastic, so Im not gonna bother.
 
Cingular is coming out with the E62 on 9/29. Considering they are pretty much the same phone, could it be possible that we will be seeing more accessories shortly after that phone is released? Just an idea.

Just get a T6 tool and take the case off, get some paint of your choice, and spray away. Cover the Nokia signage on the top case housing, and put the phone back together. Thats how most of the people on the www.e-series.org "pimp my E61" have been doing theres. Pretty simple.
 
My goodness, what is with this board lately. How in the hell do you think the people on that website got a LIME Green case? They took the CASE OFF...... GET IT , I will say it again... take the case OFF, then spray it , then put it back on.

My suggestion was obviously not for the faint at heart, ummm ITS ONLY PAINT for goodness sake.
 
Oh yeah, and to boot, the last time i looked there were 2 colors available for purchase on Ebay. Pink, and Dark Blue. oh.....AND they are aftermarket without the Nokia logo, and might not fit correctly. I would rather spend 5 bucks than 20 any day, and do it myself, but thats my weirdness I suppose.
 
I just bought a black case on ebay, although it's not OEM, I think it'll fit fine. I found a full OEM housing for the E61 but the website was in German.
