E61 broken joystick!what do i do?

just a little question...

while using calcium(the calculator program) my joystick malfunctioned. i exited the program only to find out that the joystick keeps on scrolling even if im not touching the joystick. the joystick is still centered but 1 tap and it just keeps on scrolling.i treated the phone gentle so it was from abusive use. where in the US can i get this fixed?
 
from what i have been reading they wont even look at the phone if it is not an e62. and nokia usa doesnt support the phone either from what i have read. and i am on vacation so dont want to try a hard reset until i back up my data.
 
Wow! I was going to post a similar problem with my E61 that just started happening today. When I woke up my joystick began feeling sluggish and unresponsive and the click (selection) button is not as firm as it once was. It's been malfunctioning a bit tonight and I was going to search for a replacement as well. I think the joystick malfunction is due to the fact that I play S-tris (tetris copy) non-stop it seems. This is why I HATE joysticks on phones!!!! Show me a directional pad that has lost it's touch after years of use. My N73's joystick was a nightmare to me out of the gate and the E61 is no joyride either. I love the phone but it's so frustrating as they easily could have put a directional pad in place of the joystick. The open area it inhabits now would be perfect.
 
the joystick doesnt feel any different than it did when i first got it. i did read a post were someone had the exact problem i did. he said he took his battery out for 12+ hours and it started wroking right again. usually a simple search and i find a solution to every problem i have had with pda's, cellphones, daps ect...... this doesnt look good that only 1 other person had the same exact issue as myself . please let me know if you find a solution to your problem. im ot sure if mine is hadware or software related at this point. maybe this is a sign to simplify my life and get rid of all my gadgets
 
My e70 just started having this problem two days ago. Sometimes when I click nothing happens and other times it works just fine. I searched for a place that could fix it and came across cellphonerepair.net Has anyone used them before? They quoted me $55 for the repair with a 90 day warranty but I'm kind of scared to send off my phone to a place I've never heard of before.
 
It might be FW specific. I would research more and think about using the NSFU before you plop 55 bones down to some yo-yo who will probably just do the same thing you could do.
 
Well it sounds like our problems are totally different as yours sounds more like a SW issue and mine is just from wear and tear...although the phone is way too young to have the joystick get FUBAR
 
my e61's joystick was getting funky and it was making noises when moving around. i took the faceplate off and there was a lot of pocket lint/dust under the joystick part. a little compressed air and it is good as new.
 
Mine is much worse this morning so I am going to try that today. Mine has become increasingly wobbly and unresponsive....did you notice that as well?
 
i kept my battery out for 12 hours and that worked for about 2 minutes before going crazy again. after a hard reset it just starts scrolling without me touching a thing. i cant even set it up. oh well upgrading the frimware is my last resort but i dont think that will help at this point.
 
The joystick and bad cable connection are my biggest complaints about the E61. The phone case is metal and the side buttons and joystick are plastic which I know will cause me a problem in the future, what was the point of making the E61 metal when all it takes is for the cheap little joystick to break and render my phone useless.
 
i sure hope your wrong. the only thing that makes me think positive is that the stuck in offline bug was fixed with flashing. even after a hard reset some people were stuck in that mode... so maybe its just a rare bug. last time i did a hard reset i didnt even touch the joystick and it started scrolling. the ebay seller i bought it from said he would help me with it so maybe that means if it cant be fixed they can get me a new one. either that or i go back to a schedule book, alarm watch, sony walkman, and email people only when im at my desk or at home or for that matter send the a letter through USPS. this is way too stressful $400 dollars and the device lasts 2 months. Ej if your reading this ill get back to you after i flash it with the latest firmware.

nothing here on the 61 page! Damn!....they have the n95 keypad already but no joystick for the E61...wtf?
 
yea i noticed that as well. im not even sure if a joystick would help me. the joystick feels fine. it could be as simple as a soder connection tha came loose. i have no clue but to be honest i will never feel too comfprtable with this phone again. even if it does start working again.
