E50 Speakerphone crash

Anyone else here experiencing the crippling Speakerphone bug on the E50? There's a mention of it on the nokia forum: let me explain...

At least once a day, a call comes in perfectly normally, I answer it perfect normally (green button) and the caller's voice blasts out over the speakerphone! The phone UTTERLY LOCKS UP. I can?t even hang up, and have to ask my unfortunate caller to end the call.

The only way to restore functionality is to REMOVE THE BATTERY. I left the phone in a hung state for several hours once, just to check that it wouldn?t recover.

It?s the worst bug I?ve ever experienced in any device.

I returned the phone to my dealer, who said there was nothing wrong, but re-flashed the firmware anyway. It still happens. My record is three time in a day. I've had to go back to my old 6230, because it's just too much of an embarrassment to recieve important calls in this way.

Can anyone say firmware update?

I have the same problem and so have many others (reported in another forum). I have been trying to e-mail nokia, but getting no response. Since it is extremely intermittent, it is difficult to explain to the service centre guy. In my case it seemed to happen more often with one or two contacts.

What I did was to backup the phone, format it and restore. This seems to have helped, with the incidence reducing. I now also reboot the phone once every two days when it is on the charger. I also now enabled anykey answer and stopped using the green key.
