E50 Automotive Setup

I recently bought an E50 and have been very happy with it. I also went and got myself a GPS receiver. Tomtom 6 has been running great.

Now I decided that I want a decent solution to mounting and charging both the phone and the GPS receiver in-car, and I'm wonder if there is something more sophisticated than just a suction cup gooseneck mount for the phone. What I would like to avoid also is having to use a cigarette plug splitter and having two wires hanging down the center console.

The GPS receiver has a USB-mini-B I believe, the same plug that's on most if not all recent HTC phones

Depends on the vehicle you're cruising in. I'll post some pics of my setup, it's an 06 GMC Sierra Cew Cab, I've got the Nokia LD-1W mounted up right below the rear view mirror, via the velcro patch that came with it. Highly suggest a similar locations, gives a good clear signal, plus I'm able to see the status lights (important to me) and my cigarette lighter adapter stretches up there easily.

I also have an iPod that I bought mainly for use in the car, recently swtiched from the fm transmitter to an in-line solution that plugs into my factory stereo. Very 1337, imo, as my ride almost looks all stock.

the phone holder (left) was bought at wal-mart for $5.84, the iPod holder (right) was bought at Best Buy for like, $20 (stupid Apple markup)

Basically I had this little pocket where I used to stick my phone or the iPod, but then had to pick it up everytime to see the screen, etc. Big pain. So I got a 2x4 and a peice of plywood, covered them both with vinyl to match my interior, and then stuck the 2x4 in the pocket (it's actually a kind of plastic cup, snapped out, so I put a screw through the bottom into the 2x4, to hold it firm) and then screwed the plywood to the front, tilted so that I can read the screen of the phone/ipod from the driver's seat. Then mounted both holders on the front and wa-la! My truck has 2 lighter adapters right there, so I have one for the ipod, and one for the phone/gps receiver (both being nokias, use similar plugs). It's freakin awesome, imo. And none of it is permanent. I could undo it all and it wouldn't look any different, save for having to order a new one of those little cups for like, $6.
