E.T. the extra terrestrial

i love the film E.T. but when i was very small i was freaked out by it. Especially the bit where Elliots in the forest and you see two fingers sliding up and down the tree, and the bit where he waddles out the shed and gives Elliot the sweets. Was anyone else frightened by it or is just me?
