2010 FLHX, 103", SE-255s, Ventilator A/C, and V&H Big Shot Duals

Numbers came back at...

HP= 74
TQ= 95

I know that the 255 is a TQ cam, but no HP???

I upload the print later.

Big Daddy, uploading the printout helps a lot of people to understand what might have "gone wrong" maybe nothing went wrong.
More details on your 103" will help to decipher.
What compression ratio are you running?

If I had to hazard a guess at anything causing those numbers to be "low" compared to some here, I'd say your choice of pipes is holding the numbers back.

I have attached the Dyno printoff. 103" is a upgrade from the stock 96". using screaming eagle big bore, not sure, but I think the compression ratio was left stock???

Please give me any input.

Thanks in advance

BigDaddy,

Just a couple of observations and questions, there are many more knowledgeable than me on this.

I am surprised how the shape of the 103" curve mimics the shape of the Stock 96" curve. I just would not have expected them to have such a similar shape.
Were you running these 255 cams in the stock 96?

I am surprised when comparing the dyno runs to see the 103" with 255s below the stock 96" curve at any point. Yes, I know that below 2500 rpm, the numbers aren't really reliable, but it just seems odd to me.

With the true duals, I would have expected to see a slight "dip" early in the curve.

I would have liked to see the A/F ratio on the graph, too.

Was there tuning done or was this just a dyno pull to see what you got?
If no tuning was done, I suspect there is plenty more in there.
Where in VA are you? Perhaps forum members can make a good recommendation. Might be worth a trip down to northern NC to see TMans tuner.

Unbelievable, isn't it... it was supposed to be a tune. Atleast that's what I paid for. I am going to the dealer tom, in an attempt to get a printout of the a/f ratio and any others that they have captured.

I am disappointed. I have a buddy who has a stock 103, with stock cam and has higher numbers.

WTF???

Here is something different. I went from a 96 with SE-255 cams to the 103 (flat top pistons and all that) with the same cams. The HP didn't change much as far as peak, the torque came up a little on the peak number. There is a big difference how much is available and where, though. Admittedly, I've gone from a fairly hot rod 96 to a fairly mild 103, but I've got more power everywhere useful on the street. Here is a chart showing the runs from both. Peak numbers don't tell the whole story...

I did edit the scanned image to remove my name and scaled it down, all else is as original.

I'll get to the heads one day, and probably change to something like an Andrews 48H cam set at that time. As to the tuner, I think I already have the best available with the TTS Master Tune. If you meant the person/dyno, I'll be sticking with Roeder Racing (even though they are a two+ hour ride away, and they are only open when I'm supposed to be at work). I didn't switch to the thinner head gasket, the numbers for the 103 aren't much less than I was hoping for. We probably could have spent a couple more hours tweaking to get more out of it, but this tune works well for piling up the miles.

I don't think those are terrible numbers . I had to fight for each HP . Started with a 96" punched it out to a 103" Weisco 10:5:1 pistons , custom heads CNC -ported /polished 1.940" (.135" oversized) intake valves-1.600" exhaust valves ,Woods W7H Cams , Rush Ceramic True Duals and slip ons 2.25 baffles , Rush Intake, PC III . It hits hard and runs strong Just got back from a 2600 mile trip to Colorado, Wyoming,South Dakota, very reliable , just a little valve train noise which is to be expected with the fast ramp cams.

Some recent dyno drags it ran a best 11.99 / 109 mph. I think it can do much better and that I was a little nervous and was missed shifting a bit, It pulls hard ,I definitely like the torque.

I would have to agree on the need for heads and intake. Air /Fuel is the trick, Some good reading at this site
