Dynamic personal website - would I find it easier trying it in PHP or Flash?

Ok, I have a basic Degree in Computing for Internet and Multimedia - generally a very adept coder.

I'm looking to soon start a personal website, likely including not much more than a bio, blog and some creative stuff i've done - poems, photoshop art etc.

On my design sketches, I found the best ways to use my submenus and space on the right side would be to structure it dynamically (so the links on the right could be randomly generated to summarise a blog article, a poem or whatever), so I'd be looking at shifting it to a database and using PHP or Flash as a front-end to implement it. I don't yet have the technical skills to do either, but I'm sure I'd learn quickly.

Which would be easier on the whole? I know updating would be a heck of a lot simpler with the PHP implementation, but I'm tempted to try the Flash one because i've never touched on Flash-database interactions and could make it look a little hotter.
