dying light denim darker?

i have a light blue denim jacket and i was wondering if i put it in a dark wash could it make it darker? as i haven't got enough money to buy dye at the minute. many thanks

Yes, there is actually an article wherein you may "infect" a denim item with the dye from a new denim piece with a darker shade. You just have to put them together when washing them.
