honestly? they should actually just check both your potassium and magnesium levels to see exactly where they are at this pioint. considering that doppler came up neg, it would be the more likely possibility. with DVT, you not only have pain there but you would also have some level of 'heat' generation as well as redness and swelling too. those are the symptoms/signs of possible DVT. it would appear from what you described that the tech DID check out the right places to rule it out. based upon what you have stated here,i just really do think that a low mag or potassium would be the more likely reason for the muscle cramp/pain issue you are experiencing. you would be truely amazed at what can take place within any given muscle that just is running with a too low mag or potassium. my son had both going on at one point and it was just insane in how his muscles reacted.
i myself had to go for that doppler scan but i was also having like every symptom of possible DVT. i was also suffering from sympathetic damage to my spinal cord which actually created whats called RSD in my kee. but all the same symptoms were there so it did need to be ruled out. everything was completly clear as far as all the vessels,so my orhto did finally Dx me with RSD that he had already felt was the problem. the doppler was simply a precaution just in case.
if your doppler came up cear,i really would speak to your primary about just checking those levels i mentioned. one thing you can try at home is taking a nice hot soak in a epsom salt bath? the epsom is just granulized magnesium. it actually gets very readily absorbed right into the muscles thru our skin. if this is actually a mag deficiency, some of the bigger pain/cramping should go away with one bath in it,at least temporarily anyways. but DO get those two particular levels checked out, preferably before you try the epsom salt bath since that would probably change the overall levels. potassium and the mag just have a very very direct effect upon our muscles. just see where those are at. at least it would either be ruled in or out so your doc can move onto other possible triggers,ya know? hopefully this IS the issue which can very easily be fixed with suppliments. please keep me posted as to what you find out,K? good luck, FB
