The Company.

I rarely buy DVDs of movies I haven't seen. But, for some reason I did in this case. I love James Franco and I like Neve Campbell and dance movies always end up appealing to me so I didn't think I could go wrong. But, this was seriously the most boring movie ever. I couldn't even finish it and I'm one of those people that has to see things to the end even when a movie is bad. But, this wasn't bad. It just was boring and uninteresting.

i usually borrow them from the library before buying,...
but i borrowed briget jones diary and it was funny so when i saw it in the store together with bridget jones two i bought them both first few times their funny but now i havent watched them in a few years and i dont think ill watch em again.....

I have about 400+ movies (DVDs) in my personal collection (and growing).

To me, a movie just isn't the actual story itself, or the performances, or the music... Usually, it holds some kind of memory for me that I associate with a specific time in my life.

For instance, I graduated high school the year T2 came out, so that is primarily why I have that film in my collection (it's an all right movi; James Cameron is NOT the self-professed genius he claims he is).

I graduated college the summer Deep Impact came out which is why I have that in my collection as well.

As far as regrests...

-Bounce - Ben Afflect/Gwenyth Paltrow. It's not a bad movie per se.. But something I wouldn't watch over and over again either since it is a pretty somber movie to begin with.

-Ice Age - I'm a big fan of CGI movies like Dinosaur and A Bug's Life to name a few... But this is so bad that I couldn't get through the first half hour (I thought it was boring).

-Cast Away - Even though I bought it used, at a discount, I should have just rented it because it was ALL HYPE and no story.

I think the best things that can be learned here is:

A) Go to the theater to see movies. There is nothing like it. Not even a 40" widescreen TV and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound can match the theater-going experience in my opinion :)

B) If you do A, then you already know if you like the film and it will save you time when it comes out on DVD.

However, if you find yourself "stuck" with movies you don't like, if you can, find a place near you where you can exchange/trade movies you don't like for either cash, or store credit and get somtehing else instead :D

I hate when I go through fan phases and then later I have all the memorabilia left over. I used to love the Backstreet Boys and so I bought their concerts on DVD. Now what do I do with them?

I bought this movie, Mr. Brooks. I was curious because I thought it was interesting.

BIG MISTAKE!

This movie was pure crap!! I mean, what the hell?!?!?!?!

[sp]The so-called killer wasn't all that, more like lower class of serial killers and the stupid ass dectetive lady spent most of the movie bitching about her ex-husband then finding the killer.[/sp]

I returned that movie the next day.

New Best Friend
For some reason I used to watch this movie all the time. But I haven't touched it in 5 years and probably never will again. If I remember correctly it was only $5 though, so I'm not too upset

The only two movies I can think of right off hand that I bought and wish I hadn't was Two for the Money and Suprecross. Two for the money...I had money and was on a slight dvd spending spress. Supercross..I didn't get a chance to see in theaters. Being a huge OTH fan I bought it because Sophia was in it. That was a mistake! I fell alseep twice before I ever got through it. When it was over I wondered why I had ever wasted my money!

BTW...I've tried to watch The Company twice. I've given up hope for it. I'll never get through it. I didn't find a plot so I quit looking.

Omg, I hated Harvard Man so much. I couldn't even get through with the whole thing.

Let's see...all those Britney Spears movies: Crossroads, the Britney Videos, Britney Spears Live From Las Vegas. [I'm not a Britney fan anymore]

:headslap: Snap out of it!

Pushing Tin
My mum bought it for me when I was ill and I watched it once, never again!
Definatly the worst movie i've ever seen

I think one of the reason why movie production companies come out with new editions of DVDs is to first off make money and to promote other movies. I have seen that new The Fast and the Furious DVD collection. It basically came out to promote the new crappy 3rd Fast and the Furious. When a sequel comes out to theaters, a new edition of the sequel's original movie will come out on DVD with probably a coupon or certificate to see the new sequel. Mission Impossible had a new edition come out this May and it had a ticket coupon for MI3. It was basically the same movie but had a few more special features and new box art. I only like getting new editions of old movies on DVD when footage is added to the film. I still haven't gotten the new director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven but I want to. I heard the new edition has like 40 to 50 minutes added to it.

Tommy by The Who. I went through a phase, I guess and just had to buy it. AFter I watched it I thought, what the hell was I thinking??

I buy very few movies I haven't already seen, so I know what I'm buying when I make the purchase. I've bought two on impulse buys and I actually liked them. Got lucky, I guess.

The one I regret buying is xXx. I saw it in theatres and then decided to buy it, but I've never watched it, don't even want to watch it. It's one of those movies that made me think "I actually liked this?"

Dude, I'm so with you on that. The donuts thing? :puke:

Mine is Never Been Kissed. I bought it when I was buying something else from a site. The shipping was the same for any amount of items, so I thought I should at least buy two things to get my money's worth, plus it was on special. The reason I regret it is because I didn't actively hate Michael Vartan back then (it was well over a year ago) but now I can't stand him. Unfortunately my mother loves him, so she's always watching it

I regret buying Moonstruck, I use to like the movie when I was little but after buying it for a cheap price and watching it again, I dont know what I was thinking.

I think I posted this a couple of years ago given how far this thread goes back...

But when you are in your 20s and have that first, full-time job, you will buy anything just be buying stuff because you can. Once you get a little older and your disposable income becomes less disposable, you'll pick and choose what you buy... Not to mention as Cheshire Kitten said, your tastes change as you mature as well.

I had about 600 DVDs, but now I have about 250 -- If that. These are the films that I want to have and know I will watch at least more than once. Most of them are series like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, etc. I have individual movies, of course, but the days of watching something over and over to get some kind of "thrill" from it are long over and I couldn't be happier because it is a lot easier on the wallet and storage space in general.
