hello to you all i was on play.com doing a bit of window shopping when i noticed that gone in 60 seconRAB came out again but the difference is that this one is a directors cut but the features are nearly the same i think it's stupid that they keep re-releasing all these dvd's again just to make a quick buck out of some of these shitty films. i liked to know your opinion and also like to knbow if you have brought a film twice because it's special edition with more features and other things like that thanks

I would buy a film if a special edition of it came out but only if it had loaRAB of extras and was a good film.
Im deffinately getting the Titanic one when it comes out next month.

Reason for them releasing the BTTF trilogy again is this year is the 20th Aniversary. and instead of the 3 discs like before this pack will have 4 discs. The main difference is that it will now contain the extras that were on the R1 set that they left out of the R2 one last time.

I find this annoying too. I can understand if a DVD has been out with hardly and features, then I find it ok to release a new version . For example the first Titanic DVD was not very good, but now its being given the 4 disk treatment.

I too am beginning to question this phenomenon; I'm getting a little bit sick of them releasing multiple editions so close together! I remember buying my 'Clerks' Region One Two-Disc Special Edition, only to find that a 3-Disc Edition was coming out a few months later!!!

I suppose they do it because people are still willing to part with extra cash just to get a bonus disc/edition of their favourite films/shows! I think that it's madness myself and is part of the reason why I didn't repurchase the 'Family Guy Season Collection' and 'The Ultimate Spaced' discs - all that money for a few extra clippets and a new half-hearted commentary?! I don't think so!

Yeah you have to be very careful when buying basic DVD releases as with the version of Sin City that is released at the end of this month you can expect a special edition to released a few months down the line!

5 yrs ago they released 'Jaws' - 25th Anniversary edition....

This year - you guessed it, they're bringing out the '30th anniversary edition!'....

Admittedly, this version does have a Spielberg commentary, but c'mon, it's stretching it a bit isn't it?? - it's like they've got a file full of good material, but are only letting one bonus feature out at a time.... Give it another 5 yrs and they'll have the Spielberg and Schnieder commentary....

Clerks never came out in a 2 disk special edition

If you are a Smith fan you'll be glad to know that Mallrats 10th Anniversary is coming out on R1 at the end of the month (20th I think) and the Chasing Amy 10th Anniversary will be coming out after that probably 2007 although i wouldn't put it past them to release it in 2006.

Anniversary Edition is just a poor excuse to suck more money out of the customers, Why not just make the perfect version on release the first time and include all features then. Why hold on to xx minutes of features and a few seconRAB added scenes so they can release a second, third even fourth version of the same film.

I have a large number of films that have had 'better' version released, with features and added scenes I would love to watch but I cannot justify paying full price for something I already own. I now no longer buy DVRAB on release and just wait for the price to drop to a rock bottom level so when the next version comes out its not quite the painful hit it was.

IMO its just one of the many reasons why people dont see any harm in piracy against these companies.

Have you not thought the reason they sell different versions is to make more money to try and combat the money they lose to people downloading copies ?

e.g they are making a loss with the amount of people downloading so they thought ok we will just release a few different versions and try and make the money we are losing from the downloaders.

I guess

but if rereleasing films will only drive more people away from full price purchases to special offers and piracy is it the best option in the long run.

But Piracy has gotten so bad now they will think they can't afford to just release 1 version as people will still think *ahh screw it i will just download it for free*

Piracy has caused this problem and it can't be fixed.

Was it only a one disc edition?! It might have been that I got a free CD with it or something!

:D It's having too many DVRAB in the collection that does it! :)
