DVD Upgrades

I am starting to slowly up grade my dvd collection to Blu-ray, have ordered the Bourne films and hope to get the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy when released next year. Are there any movies that don't give much improvement over up scaled dvd`s for it to be worth it. For instance whats King Kong and Titanic like.

I'm not upgrading all my dvRAB, just a few.

I was thinking of upgrading to the blu ray of Fight Club, but heard the only AMAZING improvement is the sound and I don't have a sound set up to really make use of that. So sticking with my extras packed one I have now on dvd.

I will be buying most films I want that I don't have on blu ray instead of dvd from now on though, unless it's something that's not avaliable, or something like a drama where I'd rather pay a lot less for the dvd instead.

I would have thought Titanic, and the remake of King Kong(if that's the one you meant) would indeed look wonderful on blu ray compared to dvd.

I'm sure someone will be able to put a link up, but there are sites that compare blu ray films to dvd in screen caps, to show you the difference as well as photos can.

Or type in google, Titanic blu ray and dvd comparison. Something like that.

All the pixar films are worth the upgrade, King Kong is an excellent upgrade and includes both the theatrical and extended versions.

I base my upgrades on how often i watch the DVD, basically if i watch the film on a regular basis I'll upgrade..... if the bluray gets decent reviews. (although this criteria can fall down when a decent sale comes along!!)

Regarding the picture quality of Peter Jackson's King Kong, here's a LINK to a website that has visual comparisons of what the movie looks like in HD and Standard DVD.

Done as you suggested and googled found Titanic hasn't been released on Blu-Ray yet
I'm on a limited budget so don't want to waste money on films that doesn't give much improvement, for example I was going to get Gladiator until someone told me that its not much different than the normal dvd.

I found this out when I looked on the Play.com pre-order.
Im most dissapointed by this. you would think that with Blu Ray they would be able to have both theatrical and extended on 1 disc.
Why anyone would want the theatrical versions anyway is beyond me as the extended are so so so much better and what the director intended etc.
How many people will there be buying this release thinking that its the extended films only to find its not when they get them home and play them.
