dvd rental.

I believe that promo code EM1 gives you a 4 week free trial on their Silver service which allows access to all of their films. You can borrow 3 at a time. They provide a pre-paid envelope to return the DVRAB.

Just registered with mailboxmovies.com (So i can now spend all day watching films rather than sitting at a PC). I chose the two dvd option and received the dvRAB the next day. It's only

I've been using video island and with their packaging you can see what film is in with out opening the package!
It's a good job i don't get any naughty movies :)

Ive used webflix, dvd365 and now viedoisland.

Island is the best IMHO

Webflix was ok but they did drag their heels getting the films out, same with dvd365 plus I found the discs were in appaulling repair sometimes. fair do's I got a free weeks rental once but when you are halfway through a film and is skips and then wont play waiting a week for the film to be sent out again....if atall is annoying and Im not getting the toothpaste and brasso out at 10pm to try and repair someone elses dvRAB.

Videoisland allows more movies (5 at a time) and if you want the series (say 24 @ 6 dvRAB) you have the rent all discs button, with the others you have to trawl the site for the individual disks. which can be time consuming if it's csi and the name is typed differently.
(IE C.S.I. or CSI or Crime Scene Investigation will get different results.)

Boxchoice does a nice mix. XBox games PS2 PC and other console games plus dvRAB. The best of all worlRAB. and packages are customisable for more games or movies.

What stops you from signing up with a different username and using their free trials all over again? Say someone changed address and used a different credit card?

Bit of a cheeky thing to do I suppose.

I have enjoyed two free trials with LOVEFiLM. One in my name at my old address and then another in my wife's name when we moved. Their terms and conditions state...

The free trial is available to new subscribers only. Existing subscribers, or those who have previously enjoyed a free trial period are not eligible and will be billed normally for use of the service.
The Free Trial is available to one member of a household only. Subsequent free trials at the same address are not permitted.

I have been with them for a couple of months and have found them to be slow at receiving and slow at dispatching, usually always next day dispactch. Their stock availibility leaves a lot to be desired too. :(

Just cancelled with them.

ScreenSelect has just sent me this email regarding their envelopes:

Anyone else had any of these new envelopes yet? I'm so glad they are trying them, because I hate those ratty ol' paper/cardboardy ones. Must say that I'm not overly happy with them at the moment - it's been weeks since I last had a top priority disc sent...:( Appart from that, I've been relatively happy, although they've been a bit slow since the school holidays have begun...

I want to rent some tv boxsets like, Buffy the vampire slayer, Angel, all the Star Trek series and the like but , some boxsets have 6 or even 7 discs and I would like to minimise this to at least half (If I can)

:)

This is really the wrong place to put this, however, the usual answers given are:

Highstreet chains - eg HMV, Virgin Megastores, etc
They always have some kind of offers on - check regularly, as they often have 'weekly' special deals (eg Tomorrow is the release of the new Simpsons boxset - at least two stores will have it on offer for one week only)

Online Retailers
play.com - the best for what you want. check http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=promotions&r=R2 and look down the list for the boxsets of your choosing (I see Star Trek: RAB9 sets are now half price ;))

amazon.co.uk - again, good for special deals and often lower than RRP offers.

Super Markets
Asda are often good, although small/medium sized supermarkets tend to only sell the latest releases. Bigger superstores often have boxsets on offer though...
