DVD not region specific

Hi,
I have a dvd which is meant to be non region specific however it wont play in my xbox or region 2 player. Any reason why not?

To let you understand bought the dvd as a gift a month ago however have found the person has the dvd so decided to keep it for myself. When i open the case up the dvd was loose and being moved around the box. It does have a couple of scratches.

What's the dvd, it could be known to have problems

Are you getting an error message from the DVD player ? such as Bad Disk ?

Not wanting to be a kiljoy, my sister had brought a "Region Free" film, it came up as Bad Disk, when I run it on the PC it showed up as DVD R Media

Hope it's not dude, but the market is becoming a bit flooded

Must have had some dust or dirt on it gave it a good clean and away it went.

Region 0 Discs didnt used too play in my LG DVD Player

i think some players interpret anything that isnt region 2 as "foreign"
