The norm is the norm. So how do you compare pretty over time? If something is all around you, you are likely to be use to it. Thus they probably look at us and not think we are pretty for those things, just as you look back and not find those things attractive. Like if no one has good teeth, how would you know it is ugly?

I will use some examples that is just the opposite of what I said. (Something rare is considered pretty) In with the list you just said, of no doctors and no hygiene are two qualities. People didn't live as long. And people had less to eat. Thus the overall population was younger and thinner. In our older and chubbier society those are both qualities we find attractive. And in many societies especially back then chubbier was considered attractive. Mainly as it is a sign of wealth and having a lot to eat.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But they had products to clean teeth, brush hair, and doctors. They may not have had modern medicine or technology; but it isn't like they had nothing. Women wore makeup (men in some cultures too).

So while you might not find them pretty; I am sure they did. At least pretty enough to mate with them.
