During an interview, when they ask the question of what is your weakness?

If I tell them the truth and tell them my greatest weakness is shyness, would that hurt my chances at the job. The reason why is becasue i think they already see that i am a shy person, so i'm thinking it's just better to straight out say it and tell them i am working on it?
 
One must turn a negative into a positive when asked this question...for example:

I guess my biggest weakness is that I work so hard to do a super job that I am a bit of a perfectionist.

or

I focus so completely on the job at hand, that sometimes my co-workers might think I am shy because I don't not chat that much.
